Subject: Moving.. need advice... IP: Logged
Message: I'm moving to Bozeman, Montana next month. I'm about to flush my cooling system and was wondering if it would be a good idea to install a 180deg thermostat while i've got the cooling system opened... for as cold as it gets there in Montana. Not sure, may leave in the 195deg.
Do any of you who live in cold areas run 180 deg thermos??? How will it affect heater operability when driving in sub zero?
Thanks in advance,
Dan

Message: I don't know how cold it gets in Montana but I live in Massachussetts and it gets pretty cold out here. We just had a 22 day cold streak of below freezing and it gets well down below 0 degrees out here at night sometimes and I run the 180 thermostat without problem, so I would say that you should be ok with the 180 out there. Hope this helped.

Message: I would leave in the 195 degree stat if I were you, I live in Wyoming and it gets pretty damn cold here, down to -30 and then some, having that extra heat in the heater core sounds pretty good to me. It shouldn't hurt performance any, I haven't had any problems.
Hope this helps with your decision
