 Subject: K&N FIPK filter size?

Can one of you K&N FIPK owners tell me the size of the filter ? I have a "PaceSetter" system that utilizes the stock air hat with a stainless mandrel bend tube with a simulated K&N filter, the filter is 10 inches total length (about 8 is actual filter) and 18 inches around it. Im wondering if a smaller filter would get me more air. Has anybody built a home-brew heat shield ?Thanks for any idea's.

The filter # for my FIPK is RC-4680 it is a tapered filter and has a chrome end cap
Mounting Flange Inside Diameter 4"
Filter Base Diameter 6"
Filter Top Diameter 4"
Filter Length 7"
