 Subject: Top speed of stock dak?

I have a 99 reg cab sport dak 4x4 with a 5.2 auto with 3.55 gears. Top speed on my truck is around 88 MPH. My 4 banger Ranger goes that fast. PCM does not have the death flash. 31" tires, plus a k&n cold air intake. Are all 4x4 daks this slow?

when you hit that speed, does your truck get really cold and go back in time?
that was lame.
Anyway, something is wrong because i have the same 3.55 with 5.2 auto 4x4 but in a club cab, but mine hums along at that speed with no problem at all, partial throttle...you should be able to hit the limiter with no problem.
what's your altitude? are you up in the mountains?

I have a 99 slt with the 3.9, 5-speed and it had 3.21's and with those gears i could hit 120 and the truck would cut off. Now i have 3.92's in the back. I can reach the speed quicker but i'm kind of limited on the RPM side.

Pinky, the flux capacitor is broke...
I wonder why my dak is so slow, been that way since I got it at 40k miles. I live in Maine but am close to sea level.

i have a stock 98 reg cab 3.9 and ive got to 105mph and still accelerating but i had to let off because there was a turn coming up and i wouldve been dead trying to do the turn at 105+.

122mph with the tailgate up. I'd probably squeeze at least 5-10mph more with it down considering it gets 2mpg more with it down on the highway.

135 tailgate up/down, uphill/downhill, any altitude. 137 as an Audi A-6 or A-8 passes me, and only for a spurt (something about their Airodynamics).

Mine tops out around 105.
I've gotten it up to 110 before, but it crawls really slow when it hits 105.

Err... The speedometer crawls really slow after 105.
Try turning the O/D off, the speed will go higher without it. I think.

I had mine up to 125 and it didnt shut off. Mabey my speedo is off but It kept going. i thought all california Dakotas had a limiter to 120.
I slowed down cause the fornt end started to float

My sweet 4 banger dak goes that faster....110, 2600ft alt.,flat.I added jet perf. stage 1 , cold air intake and now a 180 thermostat.

00 5spd 3.9 with 3.21s in the back. i can get to
115, in 4th gear at 4500rpms, quick enough but the
limiter cuts it off there

Sheesh both my trucks are stock and they will top higher speeds then that. My 88 3.9 has 4.10 in the back and itll reach 120. And my 91 3.9 has 3.92 and is a 4x4 and the speedometer stops at 125 and i have buried it a good 1/2" past that.

Decrease in top end is one of the first signs you will see of a dirty fuel filter. Check your air filter too.

Ben where in maine are you from I'm from Portland. I have had my 99 4x4 cc 5.2 5 speed w/ 3.55 doing about 115 and it was at around 4000 rpm in 4th gear it was still climbing but I let off I beleive the speed limiter kicks in around 115 i was trying to catch a friend if i didn't I would have gotten lost or else I wouldn't go that fast. My dakota stock w/ 72,000 on the same day as the 115mph run went 15.6@92 in the 1/4 mile maybe you need a tuneup, a fuel pump, or maybe even your plenum gasket. if your plenum gasket is leaking look down your throttlebody if the is more than just a residue of oil your plenum gasket is gone. The fuel filter is in the tank all it is is a sock over the pickup tube Ive been told.
