Message: I have a 97 dodge dakota club cab 4x4 with the 5.2. My problem is when I am cruising at about 1500 rpms or 50 mph to about 70 mph. My rpms start surging about 200 rpms. It drives normal around town. I took it to the dealer and they said they ran some preasure test and it is in either my torque converter or some kind of pump.
they said they could put me a new one in for $2800 with a 3yr 36000 mile warranty or they can rebuild it for $1800 with a 1yr warranty. Thats a little to steep if its just my torque converter or a sensor or a pump. I don't know what to do. I had to pay a 1hr check out fee of $60 and declined the work for now. Has anyone had these problems.

2800 bux ! What a rip. Tell `em to pound salt.
