I feel sorry for the tractor that's missing that 25# fabricated loop of wrought iron!

Message: I hate to poo on Dan Bennet's parade or even Sin City R/T's but I bought a universal-fit Lakewood loop from Jeg's for $26. It didn't reach the frame rails, so I measured from the driveshaft to each frame rail (the shaft is NOT centered on a 4.7 Club Cab) and then welded on the appropriate length of 1/4" steel to each side. I overlapped the pieces so that it was not a butt-weld. Then I clamped it in place, drilled two holes on each end and bolted it in place with the Lakewood hardware. I ground all the nickel plating off and sprayed it with flat black DemKote.
Sure, Dan is hand fabricating these, but I'm not sure where the $90 for a loop comes from....

Message: Yeah, I was looking at the universal one too .Alex. Was thinking of doing the same thing as you, and get them coated... Would be cheaper the $90.00 powdercoated & shipped!

Message: Well, now if Danno's powder coating them, that explains the added cost.
I just "spray-paint coated" mine. hahahaha
Be sure you measure carefully, because the center of the shaft is pretty close to 4" off center. It's over towards the passenger side, if I remember correctly.

Message: oh intensedak...that wasnt very nice.
if you had a v8 with some TORQUE you would understand. IM JUST KIDDING DONT TEAR ME APART!!!
truck is currently undergoing some mandatory cosmetic work (thank you best buy parking lot) then sitting in my garage engine and trans-less 4-1-03 to 4-??-03 for a few 'fun parts'.. might as well put on a driveshaft loop while the r/t is sitting gimpy. not to mention, even the shoddy us41 tech guys wont let me on the track with slicks without a d/s loop..

Message: actually, torque i do have! I have pretty darn awesome torque. I know you were kidding just like me. I have thought about a driveshaft loop but i want to do some major frame work when i do do that. (i said do do ;-)
" with slicks without a d/s loop" wow i have never heard of that... but then again their are some tracks that make you wear a helmet no matter how fast/slow you are.
I just made a pretty good purchase (spearco intercooler) and it will boost my power pretty good. I just hope to get some 13s again with my current set up.
good luck with your 12s man... would be nice to see

Message: yea, the 2 tracks i frequent are like night and day. rt 66 does make you remove center caps, have all lugnuts (no locks allowed), d/s loop when running slicks, windows up even in staging lanes, blah blah blah helmets for 13.99 and faster.
us41 on the other hand could care less about anything. it rules.

Message: has anyone ever popped a u-joint or broken a driveshaft on their trucks?? how strong are they?? i had an 88 cherokee and the axle side u-joint let go....that was one of the nastiest sounds ive ever heard, left a buttload of dirt on the ground that shook loose from the bottom of the truck, took a 1 1/2" gouge out of the street (which i still have!!) and caused about $300 in damage to the driveline, not to mention really really wrecking the undercarriage. i dont care to see that again.
