You do realize your only really going to gain a different sound. Without other semi extensive mods, dyno it, and you'll probably loose a hair.

01, 4.7, 5spd manual, HO cams, etc.

I dyno'd before and after the muffler change, and absolutely no change. The only other mod added since then was a Paxton Novi-1000. Still playing with the install on it. Should be ready for the dyno next week.

Sound is all I'm concerned about. I'm not a power freak. I just want it to sound baaaaad.

My 97 5.2 didn't sound that good so I was worried about the 4.7.

It might be because I had only 2 inch pipe. I'm going to go with 2 and 1/2 this time.

Anymore advise and or comments are greatly appreciated.

So far I'm leaning toward the Flowmaster 40. You are running only one muffler right?

Just put a 40 series DeltaFlow Flowmaster on my 4.7 , and I have the homebrew intake. Very happy with the sound. Nice deep rumble at idle , and just POWERFUL sounding at wot. Sounds good in the cab to , now I can tell its a V8!! At highway speed there is no "droning" at all.

Oh its 2 1/2" center in center out. Love it!!

I've got a Ravin (from Midas) and I like it a lot. I had a Gibson on my previous Dak which sounded pretty good (different engine though, 3.9 V6). The Ravin sounds great because it's not too loud in the cab, but very aggressive sounding outside. The H.O. Cams and Intake helped with the sound also.

I got flowmaster delta 40 3" in/out with turndown
and no 3rd cat. Its loud as hell, and probably not quite as clean as I want, but that with improve with more power from other stuff. It drones a bit in the cab, but makes old ladies in accords crap their pants at wot. The flowmaster on a 4.7 will give kind of a 4.6 mustang sound at middle rpms.

Since you arent lookin to go for power as much as sound, go with 2.5" in/out flowmaster delta 40

I had the flowmaster 40 on my last dakota a 2000 CC 4.7 5 speed and it sounded bad as hell it was way loud and made a mean rumble when you stomped on it. My new Dak a 2001 Quad Cab 4.7 auto i have the MBRP split dual and it sound really bad too but without the cracking and popping you get with the flowmaster. Now i have the ram air hood on it is really loud the 4.7 is really loud when you take the stock airhat off

I've got the single in dual out - dumped straight down out of the muffler,,, Wow this thing is loud,,awesome growl. People know you're there when you get on it,,especially in traffic! I love setting off car alarms in my parking garage w/it.

You won't be disappointed.

I've got to be honest, from the sound bytes I've heard of the MBRP, it sounds a lot better than the ones I've heard of the Flowmasters and also of the Dynomax systems that I've heard in my area. Wow!

Aaron
