Subject: 1500 RAM/5.7 test, not impressed...... IP: Logged
Message: As much as I wanted this truck to kick butt, I have to be honest, I'm not impressed. Latest Sport Truck magazine on the stands tested the '03 1500 with the 5.7. Times?? 15.15 @92 mph and 0-60 of 7.99. (Regular Cab too!!) Recent test on the '02 Dakota R/T Club Cab has it going 0-60 mph at 7.08 sec. Just not impressed, I'll keep my Silver '02 Club Cab R/T and keep doing some mods.

Message: I have yet to see a dyno showing Tq & Hp of the 5.7. Does anyone know where to find one. I would really like to see what the Tq curve of the 5.7 is like!!!!

Message: How many vehicles you know weigh 5000 lbs and run a 15.1 in the quarter?? Have you even sat in one? The new single cab is MUCH bigger than the last model! I think a 15.1 is right on for that weight.

Message: I have to agree with DeepDak. I mean, first off, the Ram is a big-ass truck. I mean, it's massive. So, it's not exactly going to be a rocket-ship. A sub 8 second 0-60 is pretty damn good as is a 15.XX 1/4 mile. And that's stock.

Message: It's very fast for it's size/weight, and we all know how that particular kind of engine responds to mods! Damn, I can't wait to own one.

Message: I thought that the rams were about the same weight as a dak. I have yet to see a dyno of the Tq. Has anyone seen one yet????? The 1500 reg cab 4x4 auto that I drove was not that impressive. Now if it was a 4x2 then that would be another story. I think I'll stick with the 360 for a while. It's tried and tested. I don't need to have the fastest truck on the block (farm). I just want it to run good. Hopefully with all the comotion about the hemi, 360 parts will start to decline in price, while everyone concentrates on hemi's. If possible I may trade my 360 out for a hemi, but i'm going to wait and see what unfolds with the hemi. Like I said I have not even seen a dyno of it yet and I am still skeptical. There is not much of a torque increase from the 5.9 and I was told that torque moves cars and horsepower sells cars. Give me a nice flat juicy torque curve thank you.

Message: no offense or anything but how could you think that they are the same weight? they are like twice the size! a 15.15 for a 5000+ lb truck running on 20" wheels is awesome! shave off 1000 lbs and it would be close to a single cab dakotas weight but running a 14.1 instead.

Message: I am a Dodge Dealer in Hatboro Pa., I am currently driving a 2003 Dakota with a 4.7 5-speed
manual trans, 2wd, reg cab, 3.9 limited slip diff. I call it one of my 1320'Editions. It's a fun ride. My other 1320' Edition is a 2003 Ram 1500, reg cab, short bed, 5.7, 2wd, 3.9 limited slip. The Dakota is way more fun, and possibly quicker 0-50 or so. The Hemi will definitely eat it alive before the 1320'pass. The little 4.7 has managed to make short work of stock 5.9 R/T's though. I can't even bring myself to put the 1320' edition decals on them. They need to rev. The stock 5.7 auto Ram will shift at 5700 rpm just by flooring it...

Message: Hi Porter man it must be great to have your pick of new rams.I am interested in the Hemi, what is the traction like, and do you have any 1/4 mi times?I am looking at a rc sb 3:55 4x4 tracloc hemi it only weighs 325 lbs more than the 2WD so I think it should be pretty quick. I cant wait for them to put a hemi in a Dakota.
