I have a 2005 CC Dakota 4.7L and I know for a fact the Engine cuts out at 100 MPH and does Not Kick back in until around 90-94 MPH. I do not remember the RMP at that speed but I had plenty of power left. I had a 91 Camero RS that would cut out at 115.
As far as the Speedo Goes,... The Faster you go the less Accurate it becomes and is even more true when it comes to motorcycles.
So when your doing 120mph your probably really doing 112 or so. I'll try to find this information again as I found it to be very interesting to read.

i did the old ignition trick and like i said i didnt use a speedo i used a gps tracking device to see how fast i was goin. My speedo was shut off after the ignition trick happend

I also have GPS when I turn it on.
I KNOW mine would do near 120 BONE STOCK without touching the key trick. I have heard that SOME variations of Dak's shut down near 100 and some about 117 or so. A few times I've had Tahoes and other Chevy's play with me on the open interstate. I could see when their speed limiter would kick in at 105 (like most Chevy trucks) and I'd keep going.
And with the SC programmer I could easily do 140 now. Not that I'll really find the place to do 140. I can hardly find a place to go do 120. Cops like that sorta thing les and less.
Back in the late 80's when I was younger and more brave (don't want to say dumber) I'd take cars (no limters back then) and wrap their speedos around to the other side quite often. 150MPH easy. Cars seem to FLOAT at them speeds!

i dont believe any of you have a clue what your talking about. i have a 94 s10 ss, the fastest yr put out and it dont shut off. in fact it will probably scare the hell out of you to let off before you top it out. my buddy has a 2001 bmw 330i that tops out between 135 and 140, and i blow by him when hes pegged out. of course the trucks not stock. it has a hypertech chip, k&n cold air kit, power pullies, elec fans, lower thermostate, b&m race shift kit, edelbrock headers and y pipe, 3" exhaust, 2 chamber flowmaster and the stock 342 posi rear. i'll kill the dakota r/t ( stock )
