Message: I have a 2000 R/T CC and I am debating between the Hypertech Programmer and the Mopar PCM. I want to know what you guys think is the better fit for my truck, I know that the Jet Chip is junk so we wont even talk about that.

Message: I checked into the programmer, you can only raise the rev limiter 500rpm, and the high speed cut off is raised to around 130.

Message: i have the hypertech installed on my 00 qc 4x4 and i am very happy. top speed was raised to 128, rpm by 500, but the best mod was calibrating for the 33 inch tire. the truck also pulls stronger from 2000-4000 rpm

Message: The PPIII at truckperformance is $339, but it only moves the rev limit to 5750rpms, the speed limiter to 130 and they say it won't change the shift points. The Mopar at KRC performance is $360 w/ VIN flash, this moves rev limit to 6000rpms, the speed limiter is eliminated and changes shift points from 4800 to 5200. I personally like the Mopar and bought one for mine

Message: I have the PPIII on my 97. Let me change the rev limit to 5900 and the speed limit to 128mph. The 97 doesn't let you adjust for tire size. Noticed a big difference with mine. Would have liked the MP pcm but mopar doesn't make one for my truck. This is the next best thing.

Message: The HPPIII doesn't require premium fuel either, as I understand, whereas the Mopar ECM does. You have a regular and premium fuel option. Hey, you guys with 97 318's... is the HPPIII worth it? I have done quite a few mods to mine and have been pretty disappointed with my results.

Message: I ordered the hypertech programmer for my '98 dakota with a 318 and a five speed. They don't seem to make the mopar ecu for the 98 manual, and it warns against towing. You can change back to the stock configuration in just a few minutes, and there are 2 performance settings, one for cheap gas and one for 93 octane. It won't be in 'til thursday, and I don't have access to a dyno, but I'll let you guys know how it feels. The most power improving mod I've done so far is the 3 inch single exhaust with a 40 series flowmaster. I used a jaspers electronics o2 simulator to cut the catalytic converter, too. How much does it usually cost to put a vehicle on a dyno?

Message: Yeah I would say it's worth it. It really woke up 2nd gear. Drop the hammer at 35mph and it will kick you right sideways. Didn't do that before the HPP III. I have many mods done to mine and have been very happy with the results.
Have the following
edelbrock headers
flowmaster catback
crower 1.7 rr's
180 degree tstat
ported tb
accel coil
K&n air filter 14x3
Hypertech power programmer III
Will be adding The M1 and getting the heads ported before spring.

Message: The 97 2-wd HPPIII shows no adjustment for tire size, gearing, etc. I think it has something to do with the ABS system used on the 2-wheel-drive trucks prior to 1998. They have an asterisk in the ad stating this "limitation." Of course, that is one of the easy things about the 97 model 2-wd... you can fix the speedo (for gears, tires, etc.) with a simple speed sensor gear swap; takes about 10 minutes to change an $8 plastic gear.

Message: I bought the PPIII for my '01RT and I it did make a difference. My butt-o-meter tells me that the truck pulls quite a bit harder. As far as shift points go, the only thing I noticed is that my truck stays in 3rd longer before shifting to 4th. Before programing, it would shift around 90 mph. Now it holds on to 3rd until just a little past 100.
I haven't retested with the Pro-Comp since programming but am dying to. There is a downside to the PPIII though, my rc was a little squirley in corners. Now, it is just plain scary!
