Ok guys, after much research, I have decided to replace my 70 series flowmaster single in dual out with an mbrp muffler. The only question i have is that they have a 14" and a 20". Right now, my 70 is waaaay too quiet. But im not too sure if the 14 will be too loud. I dont want cab resonance but i want that ballsy in your face muscle car sound outside. What do you think? 14 or 20? Thanks! Oh yeah, i have a 03 4.7 Ram Quad Cab.

Heres what MBRP told me... IF you are taking the precats and cat off of it go with the 20 if not stay with the 14. They said with the without the cat and a 14 you will get a real bad noise at about 2 grand in the cab. But with the other set up you won't notice it.

You do really notice it in the cab at 2K too. I have the 14 and no pre cat and I can really feel it at around 2K. The rest is fine, but for some reason the noise much more prominent at that RPM.

You made a good choice. MBRP's sound is almost unmatched. People will be giving you a lot of comments and ask what you have.

So what if im not planning on removing anything, just swapping out the flow that I have for the mbrp with the 2.25 duals? Im not messing with any cats, and keep in mind this is a ram not a dak, if that makes a difference. Would you still go 14"? Will the 14 drone in the cab?
Thanks

14 would drone more than the 20. 14 is louder. It's a trade off, you gotta find what you'll accept. The 14 will drone a bit at 2k, but the rest isn't too bad at all, specially if you still have your cat on. If you don't like the least bit of droning, get the 20.

xplikt, youve been a lot of help. Let me ask you one more thing. how would the volume of the 20" compare to the volume of the 70 series flow, or even the 40 or 50 series. Also, Im thinking mine may not drone as bad seeing my pipes exit out the back and yours is a turn down. AHHHHHH, wheres Jonas with some advice when I need him.

Go to http://www.mbrp.com/MBRP%20B/auto.html there is a dak you can listen to on there its a 5.9 with the 14 on it with cats. Then you can compare it yourself if you want. I will tell you it will run you about $100-$120 but call Randy Pile at World Wide Performance Parts at 727-367-7453 he will be able to set you up. I am gonna go with him because he is cheaper than MBRP themselves and he knows quite a bit about there systems on dodges.

Oh yeah, you gotta buy from Randy and Jonas. Great guys, awesome support and service. Not to mention they have some of the best prices around.

I am not too familiar with the Flowmasters, as I have never owned one. I have helped install them and I've heard plenty of them on friend's Chevys, but not enough experience to give you a good statement. I, and most others, do feel the Flowmaster are louder with a lot more drone than most other mufflers on the market.

Oh, and I was giving you my review of when, once upon a time, my exhaust exited after my rear tire. I then got a $10 turndown and will never go back. The turndown has LOTS of interior resonance, but I love the sound of it. Ultra deep tone, kinda spooky at idle.
