Subject: The F&B 69mm Billet Throttle Body 4.7L IP: Logged
Message: I've been testing Bruce's all Billet 69mm TB on my 4.7L for about 4 weeks
now and I'd like to report my findings so far. I have still yet to run the
dyno again, however I'm still trying to contact the local "dyno guy" , I
hope he hasn't gone out of business???
I have made 3 passes at the strip with it, but the conditions were less
than ideal, and all I could muster was some lousy 14.4's, but the MPH was up
by almost 1.5 mph.
The overall feel of the TB is unbelievable !!!!, especially if your going
from a stock 65mm tb, right to this unit. I had been running a modified
68mm TB prior to bolting on Bruce's, and while the 68mm tb was stronger
than the 65mm tb, and out flowed the stock 65mm tb by 20%, there is no
comparison to Bruce's 69mm unit. It responds on the low end very well, and
the top end is flat out AWESOME, VERY strong. It keeps pulling well past
5000, doesn't fall off until atleast 5500 rpms.
I'm not into "butt" dyno's, so I can't put a hp number on it, but I can
say, without a doubt, its the best mod I have done to date.
Better than the air-intake, HP PCM, modded 68mm tb, Flowmaster cat back, or
the AIT relocation.
The TB looks awesome, and is very intimidating. Its huge, the entry
diameter has to be close to 80mm. If you set the TB face up it looks like a
Velocity stack !! I have noticed no decrease in mileage as a result of the
TB.
I nice piece of engineering work, that I'd highly recommend. I'll have it
on the dyno in July, at the Chrysler National @ Carlisle PA.
Thanks Bruce ! you da Man !

I had spoken with Bruce on these and they're not due out for several more weeks. (Bruce is the creator of the Flometrics TB's.)
They're on the mill but need to be fine-tuned and the finishing touches put on them before release.

Message: Sorry guys for not getting back very quick on this!! Bernd is right, a few more weeks, maybe 3 or 4. I shipped the 69mm unit back to him for more fine tuning. Bruce is sending another unit out to me (*hopefully a 70mm !!) in the next 3 or 4 weeks for the Chryslers @ Carlisle/ Mopar Muscle dyno shootout.
Should be very interesting!!
I'm sure Speedtweeks will have them as soon as they are available :)
Hey Bernd!!, I found this place, finally, hee he!!

Been talking with Bruce on those 4.7L TB's. Yes, it's getting close to final product now....just a matter of time/days.
Yes, SpeedTweaks (and a few others) will be carrying them in stock.

Message: OH yes, very simple. (3) 10mm screws hold it on. take off 1 vaccum hose, and 2 throttle cables. and thats is. all you'd need is a 10mm socket, and a regular screw driver, and thats it. the gasket is rubber, and is reusable! Email me off list and I can send pictures if needed.

Message: Don't the aftermarket intakes (such as the long-anticipated K&N Gen II) connect directly to the TB? Will the installation of this (or other intakes) be affected?

Message: Very good point, the F&B 69/70mm TB has a much larger OD than the factory TB. The aftermarket intakes are for the factory Diameter TB. So, yes, the aftermarket air intake kits will not "bolt-on" to the F&B TB. While I was testing the F&B TB, I was using a home-made air intake system, very similar to the one I made back in '99. It does'nt look as pretty as a mandrel bent pipe, but it served the purpose. If you're considering buying the F&B TB, than don't buy the air-intake just yet, Bruce may have something planned to go along with the new TB???

Bruce is working on something for the factory intake adaptation (as well as the aftermarket ones as well). As for the advantage from 69-70mm, airflow. 1mm isn't going to make a whole lot of a difference on the bottom end though. We'll wait and see what Flometrics comes up with for the final production run. I'll let eveyone know of the status.
