Subject: 4.7 cam position sensor?

Message:
Does the cam position sensor connected to the head have to be removed to install the new HO cams? Also the sensor connected to the camshaft, is it attached to the cam or sprocket?

I don't think it "has" to be removed, but it's one bolt on the bottom of the head, then the sensor can be pulled out. It's too easy to do, given the other things that need to happen to get to that stage, to not do.

Also note that the sensor is bolted into the passenger-side head.

Just did mine yesterday - it doesn't have to be removed but to keep any damage from occuring it should. One bolt as posted above and it pulls right out.

The instructions I got off http://www.buymopar.com/store/jeep.html show the sensor on the inside of the head under the intake manifold?

Something is not right with those instructions. The cam position sensor is on the passenger side head (front) and can be accessed from the side and a little underneath it. Are your instructions refering to the crank position sensor?
