Message: Dude, that thing is so sleepy I am getting drowsy. Even the motor looks like it belongs. The tool box is a nice touch, too.
Damn, if you can get a quiet set of mufflers, you could win a LOT of street races. It looks like a former D.O.T. truck.... maybe a quick-release pipe rack would complete the look.
Verrrry sneeeky.

Message: Well, Yes it was an old ODOT truck from Oregon and the exhaust is quite quiet actually (at an idle). And there is a little tricked out, slammed Ford Focus out there somewhere that got the holy living %#@& scared out of him the other day :) You don't cut me off or race me to the next light in this truck :) And thanks I like the T-box myself.

Message: An idea:
Send your rear steel wheels out to Stockton Wheel in California to get about 4 inches added to them (15x6 goes to 15x10) and then you can run a 315 tire in the rear while maintaining the hub cap & dull argent paint. Hahahahahahahah

Message: Yep, I bought it off eBay with a V6 and a bad a500 Back in October. It was one of a fleet of old ODOT Dakota trucks Oregon was getting rid of. I bought it purposely to drop the 440 into it. I love this truck. I left it stock so not to be suspected of packing a Camaro killer. It needs some tweaks and touch ups but I am going to leave it look like an old State rig.

Message: Yes, It does run a little hot (210) but I think it is because I don't have a powerful enough pusher fan in front of the stock radiator. I just grab some used ones from the Wrecking yard. I think I am going to buy a new after market one and try that. But It is Fun as hell to drive and well worth the cost of the mounts and pan from Schumacher. I will or would do it again in a heart beat. Because the Damn thing just fits in there like a hand in a glove. I just wanted to work out all the bugs in this baby before I pull the 440 out again and build it up to late 60's spec's, 375hp or there abouts. I am going to keep it painted blue though and no chome. Just stock looking.

Message: Nothing really. With the Schumacher kit that comes with the oil pan, pick up tube and all the mounting hardware it just drops in.
I recommend taking off the front clip for the easiest install but it is not necessary.
It fits in there almost as if it belonged there to begin with.

Message: Dakota340, Sweet ride.If you want to build another one I have a 1969 440 with 11.5:1 comp. almost new. Powered a '69 Roadrunner to 11 sec quarter miles. $2000.00 takes it. Took it out of the car because it was street driven more than strip and the guy was married. She claimed it ran to rough and the wheels spun to easy.

Message: MAN!, that is nice! I've heard of those engines fitting in the gen1's, but I've never seen it done untill now. What transmission do you have in it? I'm assuming a 44RE, but I could be wrong. Also, what differential do you have in it?
Man, If you ever want to sell that, email me!

Message: The Tranny is a BB 727. The 440 & 727 both came from the same car. The rear is the Dakota stock 8 1/4 with 3:55's. It will hold up with No problems. I have a complete B-body 8 3/4 for the truck just in case though. Well, If I do decide to sell it my Dad wants first crack. He has a huge fifth wheel trailer he wants to haul with it.
Could you imagine what the looks on peoples faces would look like has this little old man (95 lbs soaking wet) goes hauling a$$ up hills passing people with the 5th wheel trailing behind him to beat the band?? (LOL)

All you need is some 4:10 gears, some wider tires, and a sneaky pete kit, and i'm sure you'ld have a 10-9 second truck.
I'm already planning.... have to get a job first! :)

Message: As far as this site:
http://www.dragtruk.com/ENTRIES/SQCFROO2D45G.html
The general rule with sleepers is that they have to LOOK like they are slow but still haul ass. That truck looks like it is slow and it IS slow.
Now, if he could shave 5 seconds off that 18-sec ET, he'd have a great sleeper.
