i ordered a g-tech meter.have wanted one for a long time to play around with,and see what #'s
i get.have any of you guys used one?do you like them,and any tips on using?i will get it this week and will post #'s on my truck with and without the nitrous.
i have a 2000 rc sport with a 5 speed/custom
exhaust and intake,iat relocate,and 3:92 gear,75 hp shot nitrous/wet system.it should be fun.
my neighbor has a blown 94 mustang i am going to compare my dak to.i will post both #'s.

I have a G-tec pro that I use for my T/A. I was quite impressed that it was within .1-.3 sec. of actual 1/4 time. I think the .1-.3 second is because the G-Tec doesn't start the time untill you begin moving where at the track you have reaction time of the lights to contend with.

Uh... your 1/4 mi times have nothing to do with your reaction times... If you ran a 14.00 with a perfect light (.400 on Pro tree, or .500 on standard tree) on your first pass, you can sit green light for 3 seconds on your second pass, then go-- your time will still be in the 14.00 second range (if you run consistantly that is).
Some of the fastest guys on dragtruk.com have the slowest reaction times (some of the fastest times are ALSO on red lights)... Why? They are concentrating on the launch-- Me? I have run a perfect light (fluke), a .499, and am usually in the .610 ish range if I work on the launch-- if I work on my reaction, I am in the .520 ish range... but then my launches are as good. The key is to get them both dialed-- then you are hard to beat.
Anyway, The reason the Gtech is off-- the angle at which you mount the Gtech is very critical-- hav it off by a degree (or less), and you can have inaccuracys... It's best used as a tool for comparing before/after modifications... For that it works fine (cause if the angle is off, and you leave it that way-- it should still read same/same for each before/after test).

I have the new competition model. New 2.0 software was just released this morning for it. If only it was not raining :(
After I get a chance to play with the new features of the 2.0 software I'll try and report back.
The mounting of the competition is not critical like it was with the old pro model.

I don't use the window mount I use a flat spot on the dash. I use it for before and after for mods.
4.7 HO, CW style

I have a G-tech. I used it at the track; G-tech time was slower by 0.1 secs, and the speed was faster by 4mph. The speed and time is allways over what the track says, but if you use it LIKE THE DIRECTIONS SAY, it is very consistent.
