Subject: 4.7 HO assembly question

Ok, I have decided that I am going to spend the $$$$ needed to get at least 400HP out of a 4.7. NORMALLY ASPIRATED!!!!

Anyway - I have also decided that I want to modify the 4.7HO block so I can get that steel crank! But I think that might be impossible with a 5-speed. Because of the differnt cranks, I dont think the flywheel would work from the standard block. Can you get a Jeep with a 4.7HO and a 5-speed?

Do the HO use the same torque converter as a regular 4.7 in automatics? If so then I could use the same flywheel.

Why do you think you need the steel crank?

Well, as an old Mopar head, I have that imbedded in my brain. Maybe I dont have to have one, but I want one. Why did they put steel cranks in the HOs?

Overkill?

I have no real answer for why they put the steel crank in the HO. Overkill? Or they might have been planning on some type of forced induction to go with the twin knock sensors?.....

My estimate of power produced right now is that I make about 400 hp with it set-up for just driving to work every day. For trips to the track I turn it up a little more and it makes about 525 hp. I really believe that you would have no problems at all at the 400 hp level. But then again.... maybe I just live a charmed life? hahahaha
