Just curious if anyone has driven a 3/4 ton Hemi with a 5spd? Is it something to worry about at stoplights when in my Dakota? I was thinking about maybe trading up since it does have..oh...110 more horsepower stock...Let me know what you guys have driven in the new 3/4 ton Dodges.

3/4 tons are avalible in the 5 speed with the NV-4500 and no they are nothing to worry about they are to heavy. In the 1/2 ton modle will be fast though.
4.7 HO, CW style

well my buddy ran his Ram QuadCab 2500 Hemi 5 speed 4X4 at the track and ran a 16.3 with lots of tire spinning. not bad for a 2500 4X4

Damn, I thought those would be rocket ships. Id imagine a reg. cab 2wd 5spd would be pretty fast. As soon as the aftermarket catches up, the 5.7L should be a rocketship. When are they aiming to put the 5.7L in the 1/2 tons?

The new engine seems to be having problems...got word from a dodge mechanic that 2 have already been in for engine work.
I'd wait a bit for DC to get the kinks worked out...happens w/ every new thing, even the 4.7 had its problems when it first came out...so I was told.

My buddy works for a DC dealer and they have shipped out I think 20 something trucks with bad valve springs. The v-springs were made with crap metal, and made it to the assembly line. My buddy told me that his dealership got a couple of them, but there's still some out there.

I test drove a 2500 automatic with 5.7 L hemi. Blew my wife's Tahoe with a 5.7 liter Vortec completely off the road. From a dead start all the way out to about 90 MPH.
In a word, this thing is BAD. The yahoos at Ford and GM have got there hands full keepin up with the boys at Dodge nowadays.
When I was a kid I remeber the old Dodge commercial witha 60's model dodge truck driving off the side of a mountain. Caption said "DODGE BUILDS TOUGH TRUCKS!". Well guess what...now Dodge is building BAD TRUCKS!....hehehehehe K.M.A. Chevy.

Get a 1500 RC 5.7, drop in the intercooled KB and you'll be all set.
2000 4.7 CC auto, clear corners, Magnaflow catback, Kenne Bell s/c.

I test drove a 2500 QC 2wd the other while waiting to get an appraisal on my '01 Dak. To be perfectly honest - I wasn't impressed at all. Granted it's a big truck,,but I could absolutely rape one (The exact same QC 2500 auto.) in my 4.7 CC Dak.
I'm hoping it will be a $hit-ton faster in a 1500 RC.
Do the 2500's have some sort of traction control I'm not aware of???? I really put the hammer down,and just wasn't that impressed.

Never drove one,
but I've read here they are a drive by wire system, you floor it, it backs out of the throttle for you to keep traction. Maybe that's what you're talking about.

Texas Todd - you're probably right. I put the hammer down,,,not enough to smoke'm at a stop,,but enought to get some good 'squeeeeelage', and never could break'm loose, and this was on a 2wheel drive 2500 QC. The acceleration, wasn't super either.
I'm sure (and certainly hope so) that it will rock in a 1500 RC Ram,,,but I'm definitely driving that configuration before I order it,,,,JUST TO BE SURE........

I wonder if anyone has ever ran a 1500/5.7 in the 1/4 mile.It might be another muscle truck on a budget set up.Short box 5.7 3:92 trac-lok reg cab 1500, could be pretty quick?
