Message: kmm,
WHAT MOTOR?
WHY?
If it's a 4.7,
To change the t-stat?- don't have to remove it.
To remove the belt fan- again, don't have to remove it.
WHY?

cant see the balancer to rotate crank by hand for TDC.
Robbie this is a cool performance oriented website for our Durangos i have been to a durangoclub website and all they talk about is vent visores and nerf bars sheesh
ON THE INSIDE I HAVE;)
1) K&N fipk,
2)(98-99)mopar headers-Y-pipe(had to cut a little before the cat)
3)mopar catback (its a magnaflow catback in a mopar box.)
4)52mm TB
5) M1 intake manifold
6)MSD 6AL-blaster coil
i have this #$#$#%^% turbo-lag from 2800 to 3200 RPM due to the M1 so im doing a 1.7 roller rocker install should restore the power back on at around the 2800RPM.

NOt to but into a durango chat, and I'm not a magnum guy,(I've got the 4.7), but,
Have you heard or tried this 'turtle' thing everyone talks about for the M1 intake to replenish the low end?

I have a 3.9 I can only think that your 5.9 could be similar to it.
There should be 3 nuts to take off 2 at the top near the back of the washer reservoir and the 3rd one is down the right side (facing the front of the truck)
Now for the left side they use this pain in the A$$ plastic pin, after you get the nuts off you can move the shroud around to help see it. I pulled and pulled I don't remember exactly how I got it but it did come off.
BTW it does help to remove it when doing the RR's also pull the spark plugs out and it will turn over real easy.

Message: Kmm I used a strap wrench to turn the crank after removing the sparkplugs. Took the distributor cap and made a template of the plug towers and placed it over the rotor button, so to know when the rotor button pointed at the right plug wire. Dan has a post on the rocker stud install and valve adjusting, follow it to a T and you won't have any problems. Good luck.

Message: LOL, I knew I wasn't the only one with the low to mid range power dip with the M1 2bbl. Or lag as kmm say's.
Sorry dude, what you need is a Extra Lrg Turtle to even make any effect.
You'll mainly notice that 1.7RR helps in the 3000+ range, but it will not clear up your lag.

Message: wow i just did a search on this turtle trick should help the low end but can it boost midrange power and where can i get one
anyone know how to torque dawn rocker studs guys help me please how do you lock the two nuts together.
Dan there is 3 bolts holding the fan shroud they are all facing the motor one on the left and two on the right behind washer reservoir seems like an impossible job.

Message: kmm, someone else will have to help you with the turtle ??, but I think maybe KRC performance might sell them.
On the 1.7 rockers, a deep well 13/16" socket and a torque wrench is all you need to torque the rocker studs...25 ft. lbs. That's what the Crower studs take.
If you're talking the Surelock nuts...once you get your rocker preload set, hold the Surelock with a wrench, and tighten down the setscrew inside it with a correctly sized allen wrench.
The fan shroud is a piece of cake to remove...a 10mm socket (if I remember right), spin off the 2 nuts on the right side, 1 on the top left. I just cut the pin on the bottom left that Dan referred to and left it out...no big deal. The top half of the shroud fits into the bottom half with 2 locator tabs. Lift the shroud up and off.
