Subject: Hard Tonneau Performance IP: Logged
Message: I'm wondering on everyone's ideas on tonneau performance. I currently have a hard tonneau and it weights about 80 LBS. I've heard that you can gain a 1/10 second in 1/4 mile time for every 100 LBS you drop. Is this true? Would there be any offset due to inproved traction on the rear end? Is it worth ebaying this thing for a soft tonneau to get some better times??

Message: Majority of Dak owners take there Tonneau Covers, Tailgate, and Spare Tire off for track use. These same owners usually have slicks and some sort of a Traction Bars. Aerodynamics are not an issue with the Dakota. It was designed in a wind tunnel. You will get the same gas mileage in a Dak with our without a cover over the bed. Check out the photo section on www.dakota-durango.com. There are a lot of shots of Daks at the track. Hope all that helped!
