Subject: Does a 2002 4.7 need a ported/larger tb? IP: Logged
Message: So it's pretty obvious the ported fastman "true" 68mm works well on the 2000 4.7 with its shammy "untrue" 65 mm tb, but how about our "untrue" 68mm tb's, would a "true" 68mm be worth it? (Worth it as in more than 6-7 hp) How about a true 69mm, too much? Anyone dynoed these or have personal experience? 2001+ 4.7's please respond.

Message: Would probably be worth it if you went to a 70mm. But you'll have to open up the exhaust as well. Otherwise you'll end up feeling clogged up a little. This is what I experienced before opening up exhaust.

Message: I in turn did the exhaust first, and got great gains. The throttle body should be dead last on your list of 4.7 mods

Message: I bought a truck that's rated at 235 hp at the crank. Now I am making that at the rear wheels. That's pretty much a 50 hp gain over stock. One of my mods is a 72 mm throttlebody.
That is all.

Message: wow, that must be a light throttle body alex. Is it painted yellow? or does it have a 'vortex spiral pattern' cut into the bore to increase hp? ... no no, wait, it must be the Type-R, that's why you got such good gains isn't it?

Message: It has an F and a B carved in the top. But I did the home-vortex job on it and then spray painted it yellow. I think that's where the gains came from.
Or it could have been the cams, intake manifold, 3" exhaust, short belt, removed clutch fan, and cool air tube that got me the gains. I'm not sure. It could have been the computer flash I got, but like I said......... ummm.......
Yeah.
