ive been lurking around here for a few weeks and have been reading about flashes on the PCM or something like that....... can someone help me out and tell me exactly what they are????
i have seen things a ping flash. the death flash???? WTF are they????????

a flash is a Reprogram of your powertrain control module. what a flash does is change the way the comp. controls the timing and fuel curve of the engine. most of the flashes you read about on here are performance flashes that do increase power. also the "Flash of Death" is the one from Dodge dealers when a customer has a complaint of a spark knock or detonation under load. whatever you do, dont ever ask the dealers to flash your pcm for this concern. all it will do is retard the timing and you will notice a big differnce in loss of power.
