I am not looking to run 12s with my truck just want to know if this cam works over the stocker. I have read a lot of bad but people think a cam should add 100 horsepower.
I have a 5.2 with MP headers, 1.6RRs, 2brl M1,and ported throttle body. I'm running stock ignition and stock PCM.
This truck is driven daily and I'm looking for maybe 20 HP from the cam swap. I have the roller timing chain just not sure which MP cam to buy, either the 5249549 (RT) or the new 5007551

i didn't put the RT cam in I put the 272/278 and I have stock intake and exhaust manifolds and I really did like it. Next up headers and a M1

If doing a cam, either a .512/512 (210/214 at .050) or a direct Crower cam--
pn 34418
LC = 114 Blown or unblown, daily driver Adv -251 / 262 .050= 200 / 208 gross lift w/ 1.6s 507 / 528 Idle to 5000 redline
or a Custom grind cam from Crower.. $280.00

If your looking for a mild came to give you some power this cam is simmilar to the mopar r/t cam. I had it in my 5.2 and worked very well with nitrous. like 2 seconds on a 150 shot. Don't forget to get stronger springs with the cam and some better lifters wouldn't hurt

but that other cam got me in the 12's 12.9 104 mph (150 shot)
