 Subject: Darn suspension binding noise

OK, my 01 durango 4x4 that has never been offroad and only has 13,500 miles on it is making horrible suspension binding noises in the front end. The noises started after i did a oil change and i dropped the oil filter while i was taking it out of the car. The spilled oil then landed all over the front sway bar and bushings.
The noises occured for 7-10 days, then i drove in the pooring rain for about 3 hours the other day and all noises are gone!!
Could the rain have washed away oil from the spilled filter that landed all over the sway bar bushings? was the spilled oil my problem?
