Subject: Home-brew exhaust?
IP: Logged

Message:
I started toying with the idea of building my own exhaust... It seems pretty simple... Muffler, and some pipes. I can mandrel-bend em myself, I used to work in a band repair shop, I got plenty of experience mandrel-bending, welding, and soldering. We used pitch to fill up what we were bending to keep it from cracking or bending too much. Then we simply heated it and it melted and the pitch flowed right out. Then we just had to buff on the inside to get any excess off. This is the exhaust I want to make: I want a nice throaty sound, and dual 2 1/2 inch pipes exiting in front of the passenger-side rear tire; Lightning-style!:D

Can anyone recommend a good single-in/dual-out muffler that'll fit?

It shouldn't be too hard to find some 2 1/2 inch pipes and some nice tips.

Looking for the same exhaust setup. see Gibson Super Truck http://www.gibsonperformance.com/super.asp, although I don't like the square tips..

But they don't have one for '98 5.2 Dakota, and according to them its not on the drawing board.

If you make it, it will sell..

I've seen that exhaust... There doesen't seem to be one for Dak 3.9's, plus I've heard a few bad things about Gibson, mostly about the sound they produce. Still, I'd rather build my own.
