So I reset the PCM today, and removed that piece of rubber in front of the airbox. THe one right behind the grille on the let side of my 4.7L. The Jet chip is definetly more awake and runs awesome. The improvement in cold air flow at speed made a difference too. I am not sure if this is my mind playing tricks but.. I would recommend doing it. The only things that get exposed are the AC lines, should be alright.

How and why did you reset the computer? How did you do it? what year 4.7 do you have. Where did you order the Jet from? How much did it cost?

Some guys reset it by disconnecting the battery then turning on the ignition switch for a min of 15 seconds. I did it by leaving it (battery)disconnected for 2 days. The PCM has a internal battery that only lasts a few hours. But some still do the 15sec thing, I'm not a Kota expert, but hope to become one soon.

No battery in the PCM, just a rather large capacitor.

I disconnected the negative battery cable. Thurn key to start for about 30 seconds (just to be sure). Then reconnect. I think this lets the PCM re-learn with the chip. The chip with shipping is a JET Stage 2, and cost $241. Truckperformance.com w/ overnight shipping. I have never had a problem with Truckperformance.com I have heard bad things in this forum.

Also resetting the PCM gives new info to the chip from items such as the oxygen sensors, cam pos sensor, etc. Its a must any time you add new parts, i.e FIPK2, exhaust, Jet Chip...

Just disconnect the negative cable. Turn the key to the run position. Don't crank it over. Just let is sit there for 10 seconds or so and reconnect everything.

Have fun!

Question on turning the ignition switch to any position after disconnecting the battery. What component is being provided a path to ground to dsicharge? The only item the service manual mantions about letting set prior to removing panels is the air bag system,I'am juyst trying to figure out why you turn the ignition switch to reset the memory.

Hey Blizzard I don't think it will crank over any ways since the battery cable is dissconected.

Could be wrong however. LOL
