Message: I have a Gibson high flow muffler and I am running dual exhaust right now. My question is I am buying the Gibson Headers and I was wondering if I should switch the exhaust to true duals and run separate mufflers?? I have a 2000 R/T CC.

Just run 3" pipe from the headers, thru any cat/muffler then dual them out. Otherwise you will need an X pipe and perhaps twice as many cats and mufflers. There has not been any proven HP gain from going with a true dual on the R/T.

Message: it will be more power with true dual. if you are getting one that just splits at muffler then just get a single exit. it will be less restrictive. if u have true dual it is the least restrictive. it may not be much now but if u get a lot of stuff going on power wise than you will notice in the long run

Message: Hell, I don't have an R/T and I beg to differ. True equal length duals will rock, both power and sound wise. I did it on my 4.7L where supposedly no one had any gains. I ran plenty of engine simulators and saw an increase in HP and TQ when true duals were added. I went ahead and hade them made, and low and behold, my engine made more HP and TQ.

Put your money in other modes and don't brake the bank with exhuast stuff.
You mean to tell me there is going to be enough of a gain to justify twice the cost from the headers back? Save your money and put it towards a TB or M1.

Message: I have just started to research this and it seems that there will be a problem with the O2 sensor. For true duals there will have to be a sensor on each bank. Is there a port for this at the computer? This is the only way to keep the emission control and efi working properly.
Also without this mod the engine will run too lean and you'll probably burn valves over time.
There is also a routing problem for the left side. The fuel tank is in the way. The only way I can see to route true duals is to run both pipes down the right side and thru Cats into a couple glass packs or something else equally small. Then there is the problem with heat dissipation. It's gonna get plumb hot around that exhaust on a long trip.
Is there somewhere else to stash the fuel tank because that would solve a lot of problems. And create more of another kind.

Message: Hey, Jim...
To do the full dual thing, you may need to 86 the system from headers back to get the gains you want. As MidnightDak said, the cats are the bottleneck in the system. 2.5" from collector to tips seems to work..... As for o2 sniffers, KRC Performance has a fix called the Cat Box that'll plug in to the PCM to straighten out any problems. I have one-it works. One is available for the funky multi-sensor setup. (Word of caution-the IAT mod might cause the PCM to richen mix a little too much if you do the full duals, depending on residual air temp and atmospheric pressure.)
You can get around the two muffler problem by using a single muffler w/2.5" dual in/outs. If you want to get an idea, I've got a picture on www.dodgetruckworld.com/ZipE, second page of photos. Any questions, gimme a yell. ....Zip
