Subject: ignition, distributor, wire, and plugs??

Does it matter if each item is a different brand? For instance, what I was planning on getting was Autolite 3923's, JBA 9mm spark plug wires, Borg Warner distributor, and an Accel 300+ ignnition system and coil. All I have right now is a dual flowmaster exhaust on a 4.7 5spd 2001, but eventually I am going to get an intake customized for 70mm throttle body, 70mm flowmetrics throttle body, traction bars, JBA cat4ward headers, 180 t-stat, ram air hood, and the venom programmable nitrous kit for 75-100 shot.

From what I've seen on this forum, these are some of the best and most popular performance mods being done. So back to my question, would it work better to have the wires and ignition system from the same company or does it really matter?

Any info on the other mods would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Jason

4.7 doesn't have plug wires or a distrubutor, but it does have 8 coils.

Shows how much I know, I just talk like I know what I mean.

So, all I would have to get is the ignition, coils, and spark plugs. Is the Accel 300+ a good ignition to get? I'm going to get the Autolite 3923 spark plugs. Are there any better performing coils that are worth buying because I haven't read anyone discussing them.

I have not heard of any aftermarket coils for the 4.7. I would be interested in getting some too if there are any. Kenne Bell sells something called 'Boost-a-Spark'. Not sure what it is. You can check out their website kennebell.net. Maybe there's some info on it there.

Their are expesive system to take the place of our coil on plug system. They will not give you any more performance. If you want to lighten your wallet go ahead. I think MSD makes a system for our trucks. I predicted that it would not make any difference in performance and the one guy that bought it pretty much reported back to the group that it did not enhance performance at all on his truck. With eight coils the small coils have eight times the dwell time to saturate. This is about as good as it gets. The coil on plug also does away with failure prone plug wires. The only way to improve the system is to incorperate larger coil on plug coils that are purpose designed for our trucks ignition system. No one has done it yet. This is the same system that Lexus,Mercedes,BMW, Toyota and GM amoung others are useing on all of their newer designs.
