Message: from what i've heard if your sticking with a stock
cam then goin to the 1.7s is a good idea. if your
using a bigger aftermarket cam then just stick
with the 1.6s

Message: I'm using a KRC206 cam and 1.7RR, no problems.
The cam itself is still way bigger than the R/T cam. .480/512 206/210 just the cam with 1.6RR.

Message: Try degreeing it at 117 instead of 109 and see if that helps. Desktop Dyno says that degreeing the cam at 117 will increase the horepower considerably on the top end with no loss of bottom end. I don't know what would actually happen if you degreed it at 117, but you have the cam why not try it. I have several friends that have that cam, but as yet no one has done this. If you look at the cam MP is offering for the magnum engine it is degreed at 119. You may seek out the advice of other people before doing this. I can't see the harm in trying it. That is the only way to find out what it will do for you.

Message: I run a custom cam from Crower-- nets me .512/.512 with Crower 1.7s... I run a short duration, and a 111 Cl. I love it-- Idle is nearly stock, but way more power. I'm putting 290 to the rears with small valve non ported RT heads. This cam on stock heads will be lower on HP, but more on torque (I'm at 325- same as 1.7s and headers with stock intake-- I'm with a M1-4bbl now, and both hp and torque curver are VERY broad, and don't drop off...) Making 110 ft. lbs. more torque at 5000 rpm than stock, more than 100 hp at 500 rpm than stock too.

Message: With only 2 passes NA on this setup (with new converter, 26" MT ETs, and custom PCM flash).. I ran a best of 13.98@98.5 mph Carlsbad, CA, and a 14.00 @ 99.5 mph in PHX.
The 4bbl-M1 isn't ideal for my setup NA, but I have started running a 100 shot of N20 from NX (basic kit-- no warmer, no guage, no purge, nothing)... Ran a best of 12.622@108.5 at Carlsbad, and a 12.685@110.4 at PHX *phx has MUCH better facilities, better traction-- higher temps, lower humidity, higher elevation-- so it's all a trade off I guess.
I ran a consistant 12.747, .748, .749, a .910 (tried a different launch technique), .685, .722... M1-2bbl is in the works-- but I am also going to test out another cam from Crower before spring.
This is a daily driver too-- The cam is completely mild-- peak hp at 5400, peak torque at 3800.

N20 + slicks on the street is fun! 0-60 is around 4.5 seconds.. hehe
