Message: Yes, the dealer told me that the 2003 Dakota R/T has a 360 and is available with ground effects (seen the pics, looks nice). The 2004 will most likely be the same. They said the 2005 will change the body style and go to a Dakota SRT-8 with the 5.7L Hemi. Not a real reliable source at the dealer though.

Message: juniork is right on the '03s. guess dodge is trying to get the cheby dudes to quit buying those sorry extremes. i haven't heard about the '05 being an srt-8. if so that would be cool. of course that's a month shy of 3 years from now. :-( oh well.

Message: No word on '04 or '05, but got word from a guy on the RTML who works for chrysler with the wireing harnesses. Says they just got the contract from PVO for upcoming vehicles which included the '06 SRT-8 Dakota with a 6.1L hemi, and there was a '05 Jeep Cherokee with the 6.1L Hemi as well.

Message: The Magnum 360 is done after the 2003 model year. This I have been told from multiple reliable sources.
Speculation about what will replace it or whether the R/T will even be available next year(2004 model) are just that, speculation at this point. Nothing set in stone yet.

Message: I can only estimate since we haven't gone to the dyno yet. Based on the first trip to the track and a 108 mph trap speed plus factoring 4400 lb. total weight(has a lot of extra crap on it), rwhp is probably around 425. With tweaking on the PCM and fuel system I'm expecting it to land somewhere between 450-475 when it's all done with this cam. At idle you can barely tell it has a replacement cam.

Message: Back in 2000 I heard from numerious sources that the 5.9 was done as of 2001, then the same thing in 2001 for 2002, then the same thing in 2002 for 2003. Now we hear the same report that there will be no 5.9 in 2004. Maybe, they have to be right sooner or later!

Message: Hersbird, this is the first year I've heard it definitively whereas before the comments were vague "it's on it's way out".
Since it comes from someone within the powertrain engineering group at DCX at this time I put a bit of significance to it.

Message: Hello,
I just got back from my friendly Dodge dealer (Hayes in lawerenceville, GA) that has MOPAR performace connections. According to them this will be the last year of the Dakota RT. They say the reason is because the Ram SRT - 10 will debut for 2004 and it won't need any competition. They said its no secret that the Ram model is the money maker of the Dodge Lineup. If Dodge offered a Dakota 5.7 Hemi for $25,000 and a Ram (with viper 10) for around $45000 - $50000 they would more than likely kill there Ram SRT-10 sales because performance would likely be about the same considering aerodynamics and weight of each vehicle. This seems to make alot of sense to me and of course we will just have to wait and see.
I am also curious about the ground effects that are shown on the 03 Dakota RT. There is no where through the website or dealership to order this option. The dealer told me that it simply is not available at this time, but can be purchased as an accessory later. Its not on the standard equipment list either. Does anyone know about this??? It seems strange that the pictures show it and that it is not a selectable item on the Dodge website (build your vehicle). Can someone tell me where to find the MOPAR ground effects package please???
