You can use both the Hypertech and the stock PCM.Hypertech did a dyno test on a 5.2l and got 21 horsepower.

Does anyone know what features it change on our trucks? They always give a list of all the possible changes the unit could do. Then They say how many of these features it could do for your vehicle depends on your make/model/year. I would hate to get it then find out it only has one of the features. It would be something I would get if it did all of them.

They show that it raises the rev. limiter to 5400rpm and that it allows your vehicle to do the speed your tires are rated at.Some other stuff that I can't remember.

Hey Buddy, you only wish you had the variety I have, 01 Lightning, 02 Harley Suoercrew and my least favorite, 01 club cab R/T. My wife's little Jap sport ute is more fun to drive than my R/T! I will be ridding myself of it for a Mustang Cobra, new GTO or Silverado SS (if it's not to gay).

The best my R/T managed stock was a 15.2, after 1200 dollars in modds I managed a 14.5. My Lightning stock I ran a 13.7, after a pully pushing my boost to 12 lbs. and cat back, filter and a diablo flip chip I got a 12.9 with a very bad 60 ft time of 2.3, I tried fethering the throttle but that is the best I could do. My Harley is my cruiser that I drive my kids around in, never took it to the track, but it feels similar to my modded R/T.

Really? I guess you should try to race Duner. That should be a fun to watch, your mighty, modded Lightning against his obviously inferior 4.7. I would pay to see the expression on your face after you run him!

And, his truck cost him nowhere near 33K...

I have seen him run, it is impressive, but not every Dak can do that, remember I know I have one. My Lighning ran 29K and the modds were around 500 dollars, my Harley was 33K, non modded at this time. Most mildly modded Ls run at least low 13s.

If you could not get your R/T to run well, that's no one's problem but your own. Obviously, you fell for the "I'll just throw some money at it" trap, which seldom works.

You have to experiment, diagnose, and tune...that's how you go fast. And anyone who tells you otherwise is either full of it, or has someone doing all the 'brainwork' for him.

So, since you have the time and money, why not try a Speedtweaks twin turbo kit on your R/T? Cranked up to 10 psi or so (with the appropriate engine mods), you should be able to pound on Lightning’s all day.

The mods for your Rt didn't help? Oh you must do more than high compression head rests, go fast floor mats and fuzzy dice. A RT will respond well to most mods, even stock they are a terror. So better go hide least you get your Lighting embarressed.

I agree with F150 on this one.RTs might feel faster, but on any car it's hard to bring times down.

I have to agree about poor mod response. My 5.2 has Mopar headers, y-pipe, DynoMax catback, ignition mods, K&N, electric fan (no engine driven fan) and is still pretty much a dog. Not bad low end, but it just dies and runs out of breath by 4,000 rpm. Perhaps I have something wrong that I don't know about. Or maybe I'm just used to my LS1 Formula Firebird. Not really a fair comparison, I guess. Of course, I can't haul a half-ton of gravel with my Formula, either.

All right guys, I will stop messing with you. I do feel the way I described earlier about my R/T, but it wasn't all bad times. It is well put together and I have yet to use the warranty in 30K miles, but I do like the feel of the blown 5.4 and the luxury of the Harley. I will probably pass the Lightning to my brother, he seems to like it, standard cabs just arn't my style. Maybe I would of liked the quick reving 4.7 with a 5 speed better than an auto 5.9. I still like the rummble of the 5.9s exhaust.

14.2 consistent is pretty good, I have a club cab and I ran that 14.5 in Tucson at about 3000 ft. in the sumer, so I don't know what it would run like in, say, San Diago maybe.

For crying out loud, F150, that 14.5 at 3,000 feet translates to at least a a 14.0 at sea level.
That is not bad at all...and you were complaining ?
