Message: does any one know what tranny they put in the 97 dak's with a 5.2L auto?
I want to put a transgo kit in it. I searched the posts but I only saw a model number for the 98+. is it different in 97?
thanks.

Message: 97's have 44re in them. Transgo kit is what I have in mine. The kit fits all A518, A500, 42re, 44re, 46re. Great improvement over stock. Especially the overdrive shift. Just remember if you turn the line pressure way up put the resistor in for the PCM or you will get a fault code.

Message: I saw that in other posts. So you can adjust the pressure? does that effect the firmness of the shifts? The resistor come with the kit right?
thanks.

Message: Yep, the resistor comes with the kit and gives directions on where to put it. The higher the pressure the firmer the shift. Thats how the B&M kits work on the gm 4L60 and 80 trans. Just bumps the line pressure up. I forget where you adjust it but I think you can get 2 full turns before setting off the code. Don't quote me on that.

Message: I think there is some drilling required. They give you a few options in the instructions. Make sure you enlarge the feed line to the torque converter. These trannys tend to starve the torque converters under hard loads.
