Message: On slicks, Matt Barret ran a 14.23 @ 94+ and that was almost two years ago on slicks. He has not made another run on slicks after he blew up his rear end and it set him back $1100 in repairs.
Since then, he has added the 72mm TB, the HO cams, the HO intake manifold, gutted the third cat, added a Hotchkis Suspension, and the GTS hood. Plus a re-flash from Leach.
He's only been able to muster a 14.49 @ 93.14 on street tires. That was last fall in perfect conditions. He also ran a 14.53 @ 94.46 and that was at the Chrysler Classic this past weekend. He got a total of two passes and that was right after a tropical depression that dropped rain all day Friday and all day Saturday. In other words, NO TRACK at all.
I think that if the track was good, and he put his slicks back on, he'd be safely in the 13.9 range or better..... all motor.
Basically with all the mods, he's picked up 1 mph minimum in the 1/4 mile on street tires.
And another guy who's not saying anything right now is Marty at KRC. He's got a vicious 4.7 that's supposedly pumpin 500 ponies out the crankshaft. Still waiting to see a dynograph, much less a 1/4 mile run on that one......

But I guess what I meant to say was that he didnt' care to repeat what COULD be a REALLY expensive propostion, and therefore has handicapped his future dragstrip performances by limiting himself exclusively to the use of street tires and a judicious clutch release for launching.
And so, my answer to the ORIGINAL QUESTION at hand is that IF Matt was to once again put on a pair of slicks, I am fairly certain that he would be in the 13-sec range, all motor and new axle unit.
Holy crap.........

I would have thought there would be some more 4.7 guys with mods that are running these things?
I've gone 14.86 @ 91mph with a 2.0 60ft time
mods: Lakewood Traction Bars, tonneau, flowmaster replacement, and removed rubber from beside the radiator. Dyno'd at 2,000 miles 201RWHP 273RWTQ
This is a regular cab 5-spd 3:92 combo.
Certainly these guys with the HO cams, and intake, TB's, exhaust, flashes, etc... Should be pushing close to 13's?????
The aftermarket is starting to come around for the 4.7. Hurry up and test everything for me, so I'll know what works....hehehe

Message: Everything thing that Alex said is fact, with one exception. The dealer did not warranty the rear end. He did however sell me a new rear end, complete assembly for a good price, cost me $1100.
The 14.23 I ran was with Slicks, a Flowmaster muffler, a homemade air intake, and Stage I 68mm TB from Hughes. I had the Leach flash, but it was over written by the dealer at some point along the way. I have since sent it back for another burn. I have many many runs in the 14.2's and 14.3's. It would run 14.25 to 14.32 all day long on slicks, with 1.85 to 1.93 60' times.
The 9 1/4 rear is not bullet proof !:) a 100+ 3500rpm clutch dumps, with 1.8 60' times made quick work of those spider gears !!
The 14.49 I ran last fall was before the exhaust work, and the HO cams and HO intake !
With slicks, and good weather it would easily go into the 13's. Its pumping out 240 HP to the rear wheels.. thats enough power to go 13's easy, with the right traction.
And it is still FOR SALE ! Someone is coming to look at it today !

Message: THIS IS FROM AN OLD POST OF MINE, I HAVE UPDATED IT>
I put together a list of what I've done to get to low 14's, Truck info, RC 4.7L 5spd, 3.92 posi. Truck weighs 3670 off the showroom floor (3870 W/me)
1. Stock truck, 1000 miles +/-, added traction bars, lowered 2" in rear . Perfected the launch (1100 rpms), and the shift (5000 rpms +/-) and I ran 14.78, with lots of 14.8 & 14.9's. (on Goodyear LS tire)
2. Added my homemade air-intake K&N filter and DOT Hoosier Quicktime Pro slicks (28x11.5). Ran 14.48 after perfecting the MEGA clutch dump at 3500 rpms :) with a 1.8-1.9 60' time.
3. Change over to Mobil 1 Synth oil & Lube added the Flowmaster cat back system & Doetch tech shocks. No noticable gain.
4. Mike Leach custom PCM flash. Ran 14.23, with many 14.2's to back it up.
5. Hughes Engine Stage I 68mm TB & 180 tstat. No noticable gain.
At that point I'm making 215 Hp/ 291 TQ to the wheels
After I broke the rear end I sold the slicks, and added the following:
1. Calvert racing, Caltrac traction bars
2. F&B 72mm TB
4. Bernd's IAT adjuster
5. HO cams, HO intake
6. Gutted 3rd cat
7. removed clutch fan
Currently 238hp/304tq (peak numbers do no justice here, the gain in hp at 5000 rpm and up is around 40 hp !!)
Race weight is usually 3560 + driver 200.
Front tires @ 50 psi, slicks @ 16 psi
Best et's
14.23 @ 93.49 (slicks, air intake, 68mm TB, traction bars, Leach PCM, Flowmaster)
14.49 @ 93.14 (Same as above, without Leach pcm, and on Firestone SS20's 275/60/15's and 72mm TB)
14.53 @ 94.46 (Same as above w/ Leach PCM, HO cams, HO intake, gutted 3rd cat, and 72mm TB on Nitto NT450 275/50/17's)

Message: Matt..... hahahaha... I bet.
Notch... Good News & Bad News. The folks at Weld still refuse to make a 6-lug Drag Lite, but the folks at Prime are more than willing to produce a 6-lug one-off. That's the good news.
The bad news is that they are only available in a 15x7 (in that photo, all four are 15x7). I've had 28x11.5 ET Streets mounted on them before these 26x10.5's that are in that pic. They work just fine. I think that your 275/60/15 radials will fit just fine, too, but you don't have to tell anybody what a weenie sized wheel they are. Hahahah.
The other good news is that I have all four for sale right now at $300 for the set. Mostly because I want to find some 15x8 or 15x9 wheels to mount my slicks on. And I might even be able to meet you somewhere like Madison to exchange cash for chrome, if you want. Of course you can have a pair for $150 if you want....
They are a light weight wheel: with a 28x11.5 ET Street, they weigh in at 33 lb. The factory wheel with a 275/60/15 Firehawk weighs 55 lbs. That's a significant reduction in unsprung weight. Which is good.
As for mods, here's a link to what I've done so far....scroll down a bit.

I have a set right now of what I call Batman rims that are 15x8's they are made by Prime also. The offset on them is crazy.. with a 275-60-15 tire on them they stick out of my wheel wells like the Hondas rolling around. Gets the job done though.
I really want at least a 15x9 in the rear....

I'll spread the word around here for you though.
