Message: the 5.2 is an old engine with plenty of things that you can do to it. Headers, cam, exhaust, valves and springs, new gear ratio, shift kits. all this stuff you san do without changing from 87 octane. Go to moparperformance.com. You'll then see some the options avialable for your 318.

Message: hey
I've got a 93 318 dak. I installed a R/T cam, mopar computer, and catback(custom) and it is a new truck, it hauls ass.
My opinion?? rebuild with these options. I'm in Canada so miles mean nothing to me, but the mopar computer will make your rpms skyrocket compared to stock, no more waiting for the rpms to raise from 2-3000. not that it was long before. Thing is my dak. would have 130000 when i did it no smoke or oilburning before the mods, but the higher rpms and cam blew a head gasket. So it may be worth it to you to rebuild, but hey, not all results are the same
Mopar cam,computer, catback = $1500 CANADIAN.
cheap!Any more info E-mail- janesy01@hotmail.com
glad to share tips

Message: NOS has a 150 horse kit for the 92-93 Dakotas. Add MP computer, Autolites 3922's, traction bars, shift kit, and 3.92 gears. A friend of mine had a 93 that would run 14.3's in the quarter without the nitros. With NOS, hang on.

Message: The 93's and I think 92's have different port size on the heads. A little better flow!

Message: '92 and '93 have same engines as '94-96--- With few basic differences-- Fuel system is a double rail on '92-93 (which also has a little bit different linkage on the TB).. The '92 and '93 have a 2.5" manifold collector (higher flow) vs. '94-up with is (2.25 or 2.0 forgot, just remember the '92-93 are bigger), and larger exhaust. The '92-93 got a rating of 230 hp & 285-95 torque.. The '94-95 got a 220 hp & 300 torque with smaller manifolds (EGR), the '96 230 with same diameter, NON-EGR, and OBD-II... Some basic deferences between the intake manifolds from '92 and up as well (some have dividers, some don't, etc...)
Basically, if you took a '92 5.2L long block, and set it next to a '96 long block-- they are the same.
