Well, i went out on a limb and thought i'd try these out. And to tell you the truth, they arent bad, they made my ride stiffer, but over it was worth it. I do tend to haul some heavy loads so these should help that too. Performance is better also. So far, for $219 shipped, its a good deal. Check them out, im not tryin to push them, but im pleased with them. The install was easy and took me about 1 hour by my self. Fun stuff. I love workin on my dak.

oh yeah, the web addy is http://www.activesuspension.com/

I'm glad to see that you're happy with these. I just have three quick questions for when the truck is not loaded at all. Is traction (wheel hop) better? Is the handling around turns better? And is the ride significantly worse? thanks

Well, i've used them for quite some time now, and i still like them, the ride is quite a bit stiffer (and the new Procomp ES 9000s didnt help that much, 9000s are really stiff to me). Wheel up is much better (or the lack there of), and the truck doesnt lean as bad as it used to in corners. It did affect the height a little, probably no more than an inch, but my memory is fading, so maybe more. Its not bad tho. I do really like them for heavy loads, thats where it really shines. What truck do you have? I'd say if you had a 2wd, i'd go with Caltraks or something, cause these did mess with the ride height and the 'softness' of the suspension. In the end tho, im not gonna take them off, i like them i'll just have to find softer shocks. :)

How's .2 seconds quicker on a '01 R/T and it controlled the annoying 1-2 and 2-3 shift wheel hop as well. I also run the active suspension and it helps with handling as well.

The ride height is only affected by 1/2" from what i've seen. We removed one spring spacer block from the hotchkis kit when we installed the roadmaster to keep it the same level. (1/2" isn't a big thing though.)

I had a set on a full size 1/2 dodge (97) and the difference in handling is exceptional, especially when towing. I going to add a set to my 01 QC 4X4 soon. The best aftermarket rear suspension modification I have ever used (tried many different types)!!!!!!!!

Wow, didnt know it helped that much on 2wds. Thats pretty sweet. Maybe its just me, but it seems like it had to have affected my hieght by about an inch or so, cause when i compair my 4x4 with others, my back is quite a bit higher than theirs. Then again, my truck seems to be different than everyone elses. I didnt have the bed alignment problem, my paint looks great, and i can take it to about 115mph (back when i had the stock tires, im to chicken to go that fast with my new Mickeys). Everyone i've heard from says there is like a speed limiter at 97mph or something. But i could be wrong about everything, must have been all that crack i smoke before going to work (I.T. Manager).

curious...

how hard are these to install (for a novice)?
i almost bought lakewood's, but i am a firm believer in cheap is usually just that....

plus i am all about stiffening the ride up a bit.

thanks

Mills: It can be done with hand tools. It does stiffen it up a little bit, but nothing to the point of a "kidney buster".

Ted: Yes, it has already been installed on a R/T with a 2/3 Hotchkis drop kit.

So if I installed the Active Suspension on my truck, technically I could crank the torsion bars up a 1/4" or so to help level out the extra 1/2" lift in the rear. Mmmm... anyone else done this? and the results? I don't like my 4x4 Dak's ass being up such a noticeable amount and looking like I have Air Shocks in the back for a Hot Rod look:)

does this help with the brief wheel hop I encounter when I hit a bump during spirited cornering ? If not what will, a shock change ? 2000 RC 4.7 4x4

What shock replacement do you suggest for help with that hop in the rear end when accellerating over a bump.

Any spark plug recommendations as well?

Thanks, Bernd ! Which shocks are best at controlling this ? I was tempted to try the Edelbrocks which claim valving that reacts differently to varying size bumps.
