Subject: Ho Cams and intake installed ( finally ) IP: Logged
Message: Well they are finally in, I didnt get as impressive of a difference as I was expecting, but it does pull a little harder and will smoke the tire a little easier.
The valve covers ( especially the driver side ) are a BIATCH !!!! The rest was not really a big deal.
From what some had posted I was expecting some SERIOUS gains there was a noticable gain, but not what I expected. Maybe I expect to much ?
I did the cams, intake and a throttle body. The truck definatly runs smoother and the power curve seems to be more consistant.
Maybe I will have to but a Blower on this bitch and call it a day!

Message: What other mods have you done? If you haven't opened up the exhaust yet, like to a 3" w/ a hi-flow muffler I wouldn't expect much either. The new higher breathing cam/intake needs to get rid of all that air its swallowing. And/Or if you haven't opened up the intake side yet, like a Z-tube, 360AirIntake, or K&N cold air/high volume air intake...then its not getting all the air it could.

Message: Give it a few miles. You will feel a difference. Mine took about 150 miles. Then all of a sudden it was there.

Message: Jesse B: The HO cams are parts from a jeep engine. The EHO cams are aftermarket parts specifically for the dakota 4.7. We don't have any real numbers on the cams yet, but we should shortly according to what Jonas told me yesterday. He has the first set in his truck, and has a baseline dyno on the engine, and when he gets the cams broken in, he's take it back to the dyno.

Message: I have an intake tube, gibson 3" and a ported throttle body on it. It is definatly better but like I said I was hoping for more from the way some described the difference.
I guess everyones opinion of fast or powerfull is different and I am kinda jaded because I get to drive some serious high HP cars daily. Ferarri's, Lambo's Turbo Porsches etc. I drove a 500+ hp supercharged totally customed out 2003 mercedes sl 500 the other day, I was pretty impressed with the overall package when they were done. It hauled ass pretty good for what it is. Very nice ride !
