I want to put 8MM wires like Accel or something on my V6. Some guy at Kragen told me I could not use a V8 kit because it would throw off the computer with ohms or some crap. What kind of wires do any of you have and does it matter if the kit is a V8 or a V6?

I use Taylor Spiro Pro Wires. It does not matter if its for an 8 or 6. They are all low resistance (ohm) wires. I got mine at summitracing.com for a good price, just get the ones for the V-8 Dakota (Tay-74676) $42.39 and use 6 of them. They are real nice wires.

Besides looks not a whole lot. You do want to change your cap/rotor out with a high quality brass one. Those last longer and have better conductivity then the aluminum.

Borg Warner is a good brand to use. They last longer and conduct electricity better. Cost is about $15 (cap and rotor) I think. When you take your old one off and look inside you will understand what I mean.

Better wires have more spark and less energy lost, as well as better heat resistance. They help your fuel mileage in some cases, and could net a couple of ponies in more radically modified engines.

getting more spark isnt a problem with MSD. go with msd wires. the universal set is nice cause you can cut them to size. plugs go with platinum AC delco. or split fire. go with a MSD 6A or 6AL and MSD cap and rotor or ac delco. you should enjoy all of the above!

Good day:

If you go with the MSD ignition, do NOT use platinum plugs, they will melt. The BEST plugs to use are the Autolites 3923s, for your V6. I know, I have one, and run these mods. And the Autolite plugs work better than most (I used them in a bracket 396 Chevelle). They are inexpensive too!

Best Regards, Alex (The Canadian)
