I've got a 91 with a strong little 3.9, but i"ve been wanting to put a 5.2 in it for a while now and I have a few questions.First off I was given an 87 fifth ave. with a carb.'d 318.Will this work in my Dakota,can i use my TBI intake on an 87 318 or are they only interchangable from 88 forward.I have also run across a 95 318 which I'm obviously leaning more toward but I have question about that as well.It is out of a 95 Dakota It being 4 years newer and a v-8 will I have to change the harness, and the computer or will the harness in my 91 work with the 95 5.2?Any help you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated.Thanks , Gary R.

They have conversions for our trucks. I think you will have to go with a new harness/computer for the 95 motor since what you have is a pre magnum 318. Good luck.

DaveR is correct you would have to swap the harness and computer to use the magnum. I personally have the pre mag tbi 5.2L I would use this if you are going for higher performance because you can carburate it alot easier than the mag. I personally think that it is a better bang for the buck to go with the pre mag but it will probably cost you more to do stuff to. Have fun and good luck!

Here's the thing.I have the carbed 318 out of an 87 fifth ave.I want a 318 in my 91 dakota, but would like to keep it fuel injection Can i put a throttle body on that 87 318 or is my best bet to go another route.I really don't want to change out the harness by going with the 95 318.I know I'll have to change the computer no matter what so what do you guys think, what year 318 can i go with and keep my wiring

I guess i don't need it.Going carb. is an option.I guess what I was after was a drop in plug up and go swap.I need to find a 90 or 91 318, huh? sorry if this posts twice.
