I have a 2001 Sport QC , 4.7 - Auto . Was wanting some opinions on an intake mod I was considering . I found a universal high flow cone air filter from APC . I was going to remove the airbox lid and just hook up the filter . But I also had a thought of having an aluminum pipe fabricated to run right from the airhat to the filter which will sit over the base of the air box . I would not replace the top of the box . APC also has a breather filter to take care of that . Any problems with this idea ? It's a lot cheaper than buying a complete system . The filter was only 25 bucks .

Grab yourself some tubing from Home Depot to make the "Z" shape (better fit). Costs about $10-$15 for parts from Home Depot.
