Thinking about supercharging my Dakota but still have some questions before I do. Will a supercharger put more strain on my magnum than what is on it now? What I mean is will it start breaking down after I put it on because there is to much strain on the motor? What change in performance will I notice on my magnum V6 with one?

okk

yes it will put more strain on the engine when in boost. you can drive around all day and not be in boost, and it will put nomore strain on the engine, than it was NA.

6#'s of boost will probably get you 50 RWHP? maby. i dont know for sure

Injection is nice, but i'd rather be blown.

A street based kit won't really add any more strain to your engine. It changes what kind s of strains your motor is seeing. NA engines put more strain on rod bolts and piston bosses from the rpms trying to throw the piston out of the motor. Force induction engines put more of a strain on rings, piston crowns and head gaskets. The increased cylinder pressure from the boost as the piston nears top dead center actually softens the strains that the NA engine sees. You shouldn't have any mechanical issues, but you might want to change the head gaskets just to be safe. A good sign of forced induction reliability is to look at the cars that manufacturers have built(eagle talons, pontiac GTP's, supras, lightnings). Forced induction units can easily last 100,000 miles. I thing that does the motors in isn't really the boost it's timing and air/fuel ratios.
As for performance numbers you would be looking at around 65 more horses for the typical kits. You should end up with the power out-put between that of the 5.2l and a 5.9l.

Guys he said that he has a V6..... maybe 40 hp at the crank with a six pound pulley. I had one on my truck (98 V6 auto RC with many other mods) and i wasnt pleased with it at all. The only real usable power was around 5000 rpms. Seemed to take to long to create boost. If i got a 9 lb pulley i might have kept it. BUT if you looking to make power and your stock right now i would...

1.7 rr
bigger throttle body
exhaust
headers
intake
ignition

all that will a good amount of power of a stock V6... and costs a lot less than a s/c

6 PSi in the V6 would give you somewhere in the neighborhood of 235-250 HP at the crank, which would pretty much equal the Dakota V8's. If you subtract parasitic drag, then maybe you get 215-230. If you've got any other work done to the truck, then you could NET that extra 20 or so HP at the crank. 6 Psi is an additional 40-41% power (on top of the existing power). It's a decent gain, but maybe not for the money spent. The higher PSi kit would, of course, be the better performance choice, but not before strengthening the existing engine a good bit. That's my $.02 worth...

My estimate on the increase was base on the v8's increase then took 75% of that.
