Message: i have owned my 1990 2.5L 5spd dakota for over 11 years and have been very happy using it for my work truck. i plan on getting a newer dakota this winter thus i want to build my baby up! i'd really like to have a V8 and turn her into pretty much a race only truck. anyone have any experience with this or know anyone that has done it. what will i need to change to make this work? thanks.

Message: I would check Schumaker, they have engine mounts for your truck.I would go the 440 bigblock route unless you would rather have a 360.I would definatly stroke it.

Message: thanks for posting road dog. actually today i took the first step. i went and talked to a friend i havent seen in like 12 years. he used to build my older brother's race motors and is known throughout the mid-atlantic for his outstanding work. i am going to go to carlisle show oct 4,5 or 6th and pick up a 340. thats the first step. i have always loved 340s they way they scream. anyway i'll be sure to keep everyone posted. looks like my baby's 'transformation' will occur over the winter. you have a link to schumaker? any additional info is greatly appreciated. my dakota is gonna be one fugly lookin ride but i can assure you itll fly. i told him i want a mid to high 11 truck that is street legal.

Message: The site is www.engine-swaps.com.Just recently Mopar Muscle I believe did a bad ass build up of a 340.This thing made close to 500 horse naturally. You just can't beat big bore/short stroke engines, they really take advantage of the cylinder heads.Well good luck.
