Message: Have you consiidered haveing a good radiator shop make you one. You would have to measure your free space to see how many more cores they can add/ You might consider removeing clutch fan and haveing them make you a 4 core radiator to stock length and width. Then install one pusher fan and puler fan with thermost switch. I had a 2 core radiator made for an old obsolete import that ran great. I could not find one any place. I went to radiator shop and they used the origanal side tanks and made me a 2 core for $75.00 we had it 2 days later. I have been woundering about the little radiator my dak has since I bought it. It is awfuly small for a 4x4 V8 with tow package!!!! The first time I saw it I said "heck that is about the same size as my 4 cylinder 4Runners radiator." I compared it to other vechiles with 4.7 and 4.8 V8's imports and domestics and it seemed to be the thinest and smallest in every regurd. I have not had any over heating problems yet put it does make me wounder how these things do in say Arizona in the summer in stop and go driveing with A/C going full tilt or say 4wheeling in the desert with A/C or perhaps pulling a boat from Michigan to Florida down I75 up a mountain in a construction zone in the summer????

Message: yeah, when i'm out hauling around in the desert, i have to stop periodically to let it cool down, but thats useually every half hour or so running in between 1500-5500 rpms in second gear the whole time. thats pretty cool, the whole custom radiator thing though....i'm gonna look in to it, i'd like to be able to take longer runs without having to worry about heat. i'm gonna look for a custom radiator place near me and see what they think....as i've always said....leave it to the pro's. i'll race it, they can fix it.

Message: I used to have a Radiator shop. That is the way to go. They should be able to fix you up with a copper replacement that is repairable should you have an accident in the outback. The more rows of tubes and higher number of fins per inch will increase your cooling capacity.

Message: Is aluminum or copper the better way to go?
My current radiator is gone, so would it be better to go talk to one and see what they can make me. I am switching out my clutch fan for a Perma-Cool electric too.

Message: Copper is best, has better heat transfer than aluminum plus it's more durable in my opinion. Don't know where you're located, but there is a shop just east of downtown Dallas that does a lot of custom cores-made them for A.J. Foyt for years. Let me know if you want their number.

Message: Copper is the only way to go. Aluminum is junk. It is cheaper to buy and to manufacture. They are disposable. I have seen aluminum radiators swell up like a package of jiffy pop. THe only way you could get me to use aluminum is if I was raceing it and ever pound meant the difference between winning and looseing. Aluminum just does not have the durability and it is ultra sensitive to corrosive like salt and urea often used on roads in the winter time.
