I have a limited slip rear end, It is hopping right now when I take off then it is fine, because it is not adjusted right, here is the cenerio, when I remove the shild and get all the oil out, there are two small bolts one on the right and one on the left, they have like this adjusting thing on them that if you lossen one you can kinda with force move the little adjusting things up and down. I was told to try and get these even and the hopping when I take off will be gone, Well I took it apart this weekend and adjusted them as good as I could and the hopping went away for a lil while, but came back, now it is not as bad as it was but I need to adjust it again, has anyone done this? If so Is there a way to move the adjusters more easier than with force, ex, maybe put it in nutral, remove the driveshaft, I didnt do none of that. Thanks.

There are more reasons for wheel hop than just the LSD rear end. Try using traction bars/ladders to stop your leaf springs from twisting first. If it hops after that, then mess with the diff.

Be careful messing around with your diff! If you get the ring gear out of position you'll cause uneven wear and trash it and the pinion gear. Those adjusters not only position the gear but act as preloaders for the bearings. Go to Harry's in Grand Prairie get some ladder bars-they carry Lakewood. I'm looking at the 30" Universal HD ones, part #22026 for my QC.

Ok, well I have tried all those things and no dice, It is the rear end, It all started on one night, I dont think I have enought HP to be the wheel hop problem, it is bad, when im at a dead stop and hit the gas it stalls the tranny a lil and then hops real hard and then catches traction and goes, Lab rat so you know what adjusting things im talking about right? well I was told that the one that is lower is the one that I have to match the other one up to.

Dude, that sounds like your bearing retainers. If so you have probably done some serious, or will have some damage from doing that.
In all the years I have been building engines and rears I have NEVER heard of an adjustment in any rear to stop wheel hop.
Wheel hop happens when the springs wrap up and traction is lost so think about it, how can any adjustment on a ring and pinion change that fact?

If I am correct in the first paragraph than you MUST take your Dak to a professional to have the bearing load reset or you do run the risk of bearing failure in your rear.
I dont know if you have ever seen that happen but it aint pretty think of both of your rear wheels locking up at highway speed, not pretty.

Jesse forgot to mention that it is not a stock LSD but a PowerTrax no Slip system. Jesse, did you call powertrax and try to get some info on it? I wouldnt really call it wheel hop... you would have to see it to understand, kinda like his rear axles are on viagra or something.

But it is fine after the take off and if I dont want it to hop I just take off slow and then floor it, ot preload it.

Did you have the factory limited slip to begin with? Or did you have the open rear?

I have a factory LSD and I am trying to get the instructions for installing a PowerTrax in it. I want to read ahead and see if it's too complicated to do in the driveway.

The Factory Service Manual makes it look hard.....

Can you fax me the instruction booklet?
