depends on what trans am it is and how good the drivers are. i beat my buddy in his 98 ws6 6 spd. i was in my 01 dodge stratus 3.0. so its all about the driver and stuff. racing on the street doesnt prove too much. take it to the strip where there arent as many variables to worry about. if the guy in the ta can drive then he should win, but i wouldnt say by a whole lot. anyone can be beat however.

how ironic that there would be a post on this!!!! last night a guy in an NHRA edition t/a wanted to race me...i TOLD him hed beat me by two seconds, but id never seen him before..i think he just wanted someone to sacrifice themselves so he could look good...i did it...he was just playing with me through 1st and 2nd gear, then all i saw was the faint glow of taillights crossing the finish line about 2.5 seconds before me....i dont care what anyone says, a t/a can spank a lightly modded r/t...i love my truck, but it is not THAT fast.

The bottom line is fellas, 14's and 15's are good give the R/T and the 4.7 5-speed their due... but until you hit 13's your not playing with the big boys.

Sorry, all the fast cars and trucks I know, go 10s. Thats "big boy" territory.
Shoot, I could run 13s on a scooter!

any street car that runs 13's is fast. if you want
to be in the 10's, you're gonna be towin that
badboy in, not driving it to work everyday.

BTW, original post. the T/A will win as long as
the driver knows how to race. you can stick a
16 yr old just got his license joe schmoe in a
12 second car, and he would probably pull
14's or 15's...race him and find out ! ! its all
for fun anyways, unless you've talked some
sh!t about how bad you're gonna beat him.

All I'm saying is... make sure your running 13's before you blow your mouth off to a car that runs 13's stock.

Either its not an R/T or it doesn't have a stick. R/Ts never came with a stick.

He has a chance at it.

Yeah you can make an auto have just as much power as a stick...get a converter and load it up at the line and its almost just as good as a manual tranny. Get a shift kit in and you'll be passin the guy while he's takin the time to shift.

Rob, well I guess thats a good thing then because all of the SS'es/Am's iv seen run no lower than 13.8's and those are all auto's... So I guess they arent what everyone is making em out to be after all.

I hang out with a local lt1/ls1 car club and the average bone stock auto runs 13.0-13.5 same for the manuals .When they start modding the hell out of the cars which they do autos are by far superior. We are talking high 9's to low 12's in the quarter.
