Subject: RE: MAP Sensor ... Bernd? Anyone? IP: Logged
Message: I don't know if this will help any, since I don't have a turbo or SC :(
But the older turbos used a different map that still used the 0-5V but it basically read close to 1/2v of the EFI map. The only problem would be to reflash the PCM to utilize this new reading. If you can get that done I think it would work perfectly.

Message: That is correct. You can use an older 2-BAR MAP on our trucks (T/A Turbo 2-BAR MAP for example) and the voltage is only from 0-5V. I tried one and it fixed a few issues at 1/2 throttle...but definitely requires custom programming.
I had spoken with several of the custom Mopar PCM programmer and they all stated the same thing (unfortunately)...the space available for the program isn't enough for a 2-BAR MAP table.

Message: (1) Your TPS setting is too high - Max is .9v and the .87 is too close to the limit. Set it back to .8v if you want it that high...but .7v-.75v is more than plenty.
(2) You posted that it was working fine earlier (Check valve on the MAP sensor) - Did you change something?

Message: when i posted that it was fine, was right after i "test drove" it around the block. it did not chug anymore, but after driving it for a day or so, i can feel the hesitation. is it just a side effect from the check valve setup?
BTW, i had the TPS set at .89V with the stocker, and did not feel the hesitation.

Message: i did have the stock TB on.. and i had no problems. when i switched to the 52mm, it chugged, so i did the check valve mod, and it fixed the chugging issue.
the only issue i have now is, it hesitates when i get on it. its not that big of a deal, just kind of annoying. the power differance between the stock and the 52, is big enough that it dosent make me want to go back to stock.

Message: while you guys are on the TB for the SC thing... i put up another post that went by the way side. my question there was is it worth it to run the 72mm with the kenne bell? the intake on the SC doesn't look like its any bigger than the stock TB... maybe it is, i've never seen one up close, but it doesn't look like it.

Message: Kota: It should help out a little bit as the MAP signal doesn't drop as quick as on a 52mm. In my case...I had less problems with the stock 48mm as with a 50mm (52mm is too big for a V6) but the HP gains were much better with the aftermarket TB. As long as you can get around the "bog", the gains slightly outweigh the small bog issue. Just keep in mind that there are alternative ways to properly fix the "bog"...but they range from $300-$600 on the average (aftermarket MAP controllers).
Dropoff: The modified TB will help out with airflow requirements and will also perk up the performance right out of the hole. Since the 4.7L KB kits use a MAF and MAP sensor...the "bog" problems isn't there (on the 4.7L only).
