Message: hands down the mopar pcm! dont even think about anything else
some other choices are the jet 1&2 stage chip and a hyper chip. these plug into the stock pcm and add a few degrees of timing, and some other things. the problem is, since the pcm lears what is going on (after about 200 miles) it counter acts to this and your $200+ chip is worthless.
you can get a mopar pcm at krc performance for about the same price as a jet II chip. it also raises the revlimiter, and takes out the speed limiter
-Eric Injection is nice, but i'd rather be blown. 5.2L, 5speed. Powerdyne SC, 50mm TB, 2bbl M-1, 1.7RR's, MSD 6BTM, ciramic JBA headers, carsound cat, dumped gibson

its $330 at krc..(i thought it was cheaper, but still worth it)
you might want to check summit racing. might be even cheaper there

Message: i think the clames are 25hp for the PCM. i think the gain is 10-15 RWHP in real world conditions. and about .2 in the 1/4
one thing to consider...the pcm will raise the shift points to about 5100-5200 rpm. you stock manifold stops making power at about 4300 rpm. in other words, the engine will make noise, but not go anywhere. you need to change the manifold to take advantage of the added rpm's
honestly, if you are willing to spend $330 on a pcm, spend a extra $40, and get the M-1 manifold. i beleve i suggested it to you in the past, but i strongly feel that you will get more out of it than the pcm and a lot of other bolt on parts

Message: its easy, you just take out bolts and put them back in, in the same location. you can even lable them if you can not remember how they go.
most of the mess is unplugging sensors and such. it is real easy to put back together because they can only go one way
if you ever decide to give it a try, just ask

Message: Cool, I was thinking of going towards this route too. I had a question though... could I still pump with 87 regular gas or would I have to pump with 92 premium after PCM CHIP install. People have been telling me that if you get a chip installed you can't pump reg gas. Thanks and if this sounds stupid sorry haha.

kota, click on my thumbnail, and you can see my engine when i had it torn down... you can see how everything just moves out of the way. i have the AC compressor laying on the core support, with the lines still connected. did the same with the fuel rails

Message: black magic: no, there are no mopar pcm's for our 4.7's yet (and most likely never will be). there are a couple places to get them re-flashed, but the mopar pcm's are only for the 5.2/5.9.
and yes, i'm sure you could prolly get the M-1 manifold from KRC, but it wouldnt fit your 4.7 :) totally different engine and technology.
the things you should be looking at:
HO cams
HO intake (but only if you do the cams)
Leach flash
air intake (i'd recommend Intense Perf. Z-tube)
Fastman "true" 68mm TB, or 70mm
high-flow or gutted cat
not necessarily in that order, but those are the things that are either proven to have great results or are beneficial in getting other mods to work better.

Message: crm,
I have considered the Leach Flash. I pull a 5,000lb trailer a lot. Would the HO cams and intake hurt or help the trailering performance?
I'd like to do the cams. I've heard nothing but good about it!
I'm no mechanic though and don't really have the time to do it myself.

Message: the HO cams/intake would definitely help in towing. the cams would add torque down low and the intake helps on the upper end HP. havent done them myself, but am planning on it this fall/winter. since you tow a lot, you might wanna talk to whoever you get to do a flash. for instance, mopar doesnt recommend towing with their pcm, so it might be similar when you get a custom flash.
