Subject: Entire New Engine. What Fits? IP: Logged
Message: Ok,
I have a 2001 Dakota CC 4.7L 4x4 auto.
Lets say I have extra money that I want to blow on this truck.
If I wanted to replace the engine in it with somthing else, what fits besides the magnum 4.7 I have in it now?
I see the crate engines offered on KRC performance, but would any of these fit?

Message: Actually lets ignore the above question, the problem is I don't know what else to do beside a supercharger to get more power.
I currently I have
70mm TB
Z-Tube "4
Gibson Exhaust
Gibson Headers
HO Cams
Whats left? that fits on the 4.7

Message: We could talk about what fits into 97, 4X4. A 318 currently resides there, and is working excellent. But I've been considering finding a 360 in a junkyard and rebuilding it and reboring it to be a 408 stroker. But what else would bolt in with minimal mods.
The tranny issue is another post.

Message: EHO heads, www.premier-automotive.net
these engines respond very well to forced
induction. If you add a set of ported heads, or
these EHO heads (no dyno numbers yet?),
and a supercharger, you will easily be in the
350+ RWHP range. you have a nice setup on
your dakota already, dont get rid of a good
motor. plus, how much power do you want?
350+ horses is plenty for a 4X4, if you want
more, spray some nitrous, it all depends on
how much you want to spend. an inepensive
route to take is the NX kit available for $495, if
you dont want to spend $4000 on a
supercharger. other than that, you need to be
patient and wait for more parts to be available.

Message: D,
Thanks for the info, money isn't the issue, just trying to get the truck pretty quick prior to going with the supercharger. I would like it to push 350 with the supercharger, I don't really feel the need to hit 400, but I wasn't sure what was left for me to add prior to the S/C.

Message: I talked to Jonas about the heads. His gut estimate is that on a truck with an aftermarket intake, the heads should make 30-45 hp. Thats significant. If you look at that in combination with the HO cams you have (or better yet, his EHO cams) you could be looking at 60 hp easily. If you want to supercharge your truck, go for it - but do the heads first, then supercharge it, then talk to KB about an OptII. I've got an idea that a properly set up 4.7 that was blown could easily do 425+ HP.
