Subject: Cams are Rusty? IP: Logged
Message: I just received my cams today that I ordered off of a group buy on, is it normal for them to be rusty and oxidized right out of the box?
Never ordered them before, just not sure?

Message: It won't hurt anything as long as the lobes are not pitted. wd-40 and fine to medium steal wool is in order to remove the rust coloration and prevent it from staining ur oil, just make sure u wipe them down extremely well b-for the install. steal wool fibers = very bad for internaly lubricated parts w/ tight tolerances.

Message: Almost everyone that has ordered them, either from KRC, Group Buy, or from the Dodge dealers around the country, has gotten at least one with rust on it. They came that way from MOPAR. Kinda makes you wonder where they store them.
