 Subject: looking for info on 4.7 H.O. install ?

I'm about to do the install myself with a couple of friends soon. I've seen some posts about making the wedge out of a piece of wood, that worked fine. Info please, what shape?
Next, the tool for the fuel line rail, do I need it? any way to fab it?
Thanks to all who've done it already, I want it to go smoothly, and not take all day.

The main dimensions are 5" long, 1 9/16"tall, 9/16" thick.
The angle starts at 1 5/8" from the left end the ends up 15/16" tall on the right side.

I managed to remove the cover without removing the fuel line. It just took a bit of fooling with, but it came off.

I made my wedge out of wood also. It didn't seem like it took a lot of pressure to hold the chains in place anyway.
To be sure they wouldn't move, I loosened the bolt that holds the sprocket on the cam first. Then I loosened and removed all the caps from the cam. I took the bolt out, took the sprocket off, and slipped it right on the new cam, laying it in place at the same time. If the chain tried to slip, it was only off the cam for about 5 seconds anyway. Never moved.
After doing the install, I believe it's a lot easier than I thought it would be.

How long should one plan on taking to complete this project from start to finish? Also, has anyone ordered and installed the kit from KRC? How were the instructions?

If you've done this before, it should take you a few hours. If not, then about a days work. It took me a little longer because I did it mostly by myself and I didn't have some of the tools. I also cracked one of the breathers, so I had to glue it back together and let it dry. As for the instructions from KRC, it's just a copy from the maintenance maual.

The instructions don't talk about disconnecting the fuel line assembly.
Maynardh says he's done it w/o removing the fuel line. I believe him, any others with this experience?
Cudashoe thanks for the dimensions and the picks, should be easy to make a replica of the chain wedge.
Keith, thanks for the KRC instructions, look thorough enough, anyone we experience with them?

Just finished my cam and intake install and did not have to remove the fuel rails, move the a/c or the p/s pump.
Z-Tube, R/T Rims, SSB Rear Disc Conversion, Alpine Head-Unit, Infinity Kappa Speakers, SilverStar Headlights, HO Cams & Intake in the box.
So what size flux capacitor you got in there?

Todd,
I bought a set of fuel line removal tools at Carquest for $10.00. I removed the fuel line that connects to the fuel rail on the drivers side. I did not move any fuel rails. I did not move the power steering or the A/C.
I did move the A/C lines a bit to get the passenger side cover off.
Most of the work is in getting the valve covers off. Take your time and a helping hand is great.

I found the best thing about the instructions was they gave the torque specs.
After getting the covers off, it's pretty straight forward what to do.

Can one person install the cams by them self or is it a two person job. My main concern is rotating the cam from the neutral position while tighting the cam sprocket bolt?
