Subject: Removing Cats. IP: Logged
Message: I have an appointment to have a flowmastter exhaust put on my 99 Dakota CC 5.2L. I am having a single in duel out 40 series Flowmaster installed I asked the shop that is doing the work if the Cats could be removed and this conversation took place over the phone and he indicated that he did not think becouse of an O2 sensor. Is this true and if it is, is there away to get around the propblem of the O2 sensor. Your input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Brad

Message: Try leaving the 2nd O2 sensor in place and see what it does . I took the cat off my '99 318 Dakota and it set off the check engine light so I had to buy an O2 simm but I have heard of people that don't use the O2 simm with no cat and it works fine.
