I have done a lot of things to my truck but I have been holding off for a CARB approved FIPK. What whould we have to do to get a "GROUP" BUY? How many 4.7 people would be interested? Yes, I do live in CA.

I would think (actually hope) that they would keep it around the same price as the 5.2/5.9 system.
I saw those for $259 at JC Whitney, would think Summit is around the same price...

Does any one know if and when K&N will come out with a Gen II for the 4.7? Until I read the post about the FIPK=Gen II I was under the impression that they were the same. Hey CyberWolf how did your exhaust project go??

The Gen II is what I was talking about. Just remember K&N said it should be late July when it finally comes out. K&N is known for being late. I'm counting on it being out in late August or September. As far as my exhaust project, I'm still waiting on my Flowmaster CatBack. I'm going to dyno it stock then install the cat back and dyno it again then remove the cat and dyno it again. That way I know whether or not it's worth it.

I recieved an e-mail from K&N on Friday (16th) and they said to check the website on Monday. They told me it would be out any day now, just building up a stock for shipment. They said the price would be $411.97. I think this is going to be the most expensive FIPK ever created. I want one but the pricetag is a turnoff.

Please keep us aware of your dyno results with the exhaust mods. I appreciate the time and cost involved for you to get these results.
I'm assuming maybe 5 to 7 hp with just the cat back system. It's the removed cat and new exhaust that will be interesting for all of us.

I think K&N must be smoking crack!!!. The FIPK for the 4.7 has been coming out "in the summer" for over a year now!! A few months ago I spoke to them on the phone they told me they weren't happy with the results they were getting and were reworking it, than it was it would be out in the summer, like a month ago they told me they don't have plans for one for the 4.7, 2 weeks ago I e-mailed them asking for a status on the fipk and still no response, I just e-mailed them under a different name to see if they answer, maybe all the 4.7 owners should start e-mailing them asking about the FIPK for the 4.7 maybe they'll get the picture that a lot of dakota owners are waiting for this kit!! Forget a group but, I just want to see ONE available first, as for $411 go back to my first sentence!!

Before everyone gets freaked out about price, $411 might be MSRP. Street price could end up around $220-$260 like other kits. For example, Borla showed a price of $670 for the exhaust for my Dak. Summit has it for $379.

Hi Brad,
The kit for the 2000-2001 model 4.7L Dakota should be released any day. We
are building the kits for inventory before they are released for sale. The
kit is part# 57-1516. I would say check back with us on Monday or Tuesday.
They should be available by then. This kit will retail for $ 411.97.
You should be able to purchase our products for a better price from a local
auto parts store like Autozone, Pep Boys, Advanced Auto, etc. or from a mail
order company like Summit Racing or Jegs or a performance shop. You can also
log onto our website and we have links to companies that you can purchase
our products from online.

Well finally got a response from K&N, mine said: " we should be releasing the kit for this vehicle any day the part # is 57-1516, the kit fits 2000-2001 model dakota 4.7 models" about time if it does release on time.

Personally I'm tired of waitin myself, I say I nice volant intake on truckperformance.com I think I'm gonna go with that, and it cost about belive 210.00, because 400 dollars for a intake fregin crazy.

I received word from someone that I have been talking to inside K&N that teh kits for the 4.7L will be released very soon. Below is what she relayed to me.
Wwe are in production on the kit for this vehicle. This means that we are
putting the kits together to sale. The kit should be released for sale in
the next week or two. The correct kit is part# 57-1516. I am waiting for
it to be active before I start doing all of my follow ups.

I work at Lonestar Racing in Tyler, and we are a K & N warehouse distributor. (That means we sell a lot of them!!)
I will find out about price and availability for this # 57-1516.
I could possibly do a group purchase if everyone got together with me as the salesperson on the order.
I will find out what suggested jobber pricing is, and see how much lower I can go than that... as one person stated earlier, $411 is probably suggested retail pricing on the kit..
Let me see what I can do... Please don't email me.. I will post back here tomorrow, hopefully around noon (central time) with any results or promises and hopefully a good price and ship date.

Ok, so here's the deal...
With or without a group purchase...
I will sell this part #57-1516 for $239.95 INCLUDING FREIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!
This is freight to anywhere in the United States (besides Hawaii) Regular UPS Ground.

It would probably be best to get your order in now and we will be first in line when the parts start rolling out the door. I am told that they are being made now and will be ready to sell by the middle to last of June.
