Subject: 180 stat install help IP: Logged
Message: Firstly, I searched the site and haven't found what I am asking for.
Does anybody have a step by step tutorial on how to change the t-stat on a 4.7 on their website? Kinda like this but for the 4.7: http://www.dakota-truck.net/UPGRADES/TSTAT/
Should be a simple process but if this is around on a website I'd like to look at it before diving in. Thanks.

Message: A lot easier than finding that damm 180 stat!!. I havent being able to find one yet. I went to the speed & tweaks website and they claim the manufacturer is rockbust or something like that but I vistited their web ste and they don't mention anything about that stat. I personally don't like to order from websites because it takes forever to get the parts.(specially speed&tweaks for what I heard)So I'm just going to wait until Autozone or the other popular brands come up with one.Any ways all you have to do is to remove the two 10mm screws on the plastic housing which is located on the front right bottom of the engine which is pretty easy access.

Message: The 4.7l uses the same thermostat as the 318 / 3260. you simply have to drill a small (3/32) hole in it for the bypass and reuse the stock gasket... Did mine last week and it is working properly...
One hint though, my lower bolt was stuck in there. spray some aerokroil or simmilar a few times in the days prior to doing it... steel bolts in alumminum do not mix well...
